Zensonic’s surround sound hits thundering new heights
Tuesday 31st August 2004 — Adelaide, Australia
Australian home theatre designer Zensonic has announced a 5.1 surround speaker system which delivers thundering home theatre sound at a breakthrough price point of AU$999 and shipping in October.
The Zensonic Z800 range of speakers use aluminium cones previously found mainly in pro audio speakers. Aluminium provides superior stiffness for powerful home theatre sound with negligible distortion.
All five speakers are magnetically shielded, allowing placement close to a television without visual interference. Removable speaker baffle plates allow the stylish aluminium cones to be displayed.
The Z800SW subwoofer is the key to the system’s rich, dramatic theatre sound. A 12 inch long-throw woofer delivers a ground-shaking 150W RMS. It allows connection from a home theatre amplifier dedicated subwoofer line output, or can also work as part of a regular stereo sound system, accepting an entire line signal. It also includes the ability to correct phase, adjust low frequency cut-off and volume. It sells for A$499.
The Z800SRC centre and rear speakers include 1 inch tweeters; dual 5.25 inch woofers on the centre and single 5.25 inch woofers on the rears; and deliver a powerful 50W and 40W respectively. They sell for A$199 for the set of three speakers.
The Z800F front speakers deliver crisp 80W sound with 90db sensitivity using dual 8 inch woofers and a 1 inch tweeter. They are priced at $499.
As a 5.1 set, the Z800 series speakers sell for A$999, a A$198 discount on the A$1197 price of the speakers put together. “We are excited to be introducing high-end home theatre speakers at pricing previously only seen in integrated home theatre systems and PC surround sound speakers,” Zensonic’s Raaj Menon said.
