Yamaha today introduced the YAS-105, a single-body sound bar with built-in subwoofers for $250 that features an ultra-slim profile, Bluetooth, flexible orientation design and new, visually inconspicuous cosmetics that allow it to virtually “disappear” under the latest thin-bezel TVs.
The YAS-105 is the first Yamaha sound bar with a flexible orientation design that enables it to be placed horizontally in front of a TV or vertically on a wall. Its extremely low profile – only 2 1/8-inches high – keeps it from blocking the screen image of TVs with short stands or thin bezels. On a wall, the sound bar is equally unobtrusive and makes a perfect complement to the TV under which it is mounted.
Adding to its entertainment capabilities, this model offers Bluetooth for the streaming of audio from smartphones, tablets and computers. This wireless connection also enables it to be operated via Yamaha’s free Home Theater Controller app for Apple iOS and Android devices.
The YAS-105’s impressive sound field is created by two full-range drivers, two high-frequency tweeters and two built-in subwoofers in a single-body enclosure with bass reflex ports. Yamaha’s superior structural design and proprietary Advanced Bass Extension Processing add a level of bass response that belies the size of the sound bar cabinet. Dolby Digital and Yamaha’s exclusive AIR SURROUND XTREME technology provide an immersive virtual 7.1-channel listening experience for TV and movies. The Yamaha Clear Voice feature raises the level of dialogue and narration to make it more clearly audible.
The YAS-105 also offers a learning feature, allowing select functions to be conveniently operated via the user’s TV remote control. It provides one optical input, one coaxial input, an analog input and a subwoofer output that allows a separate subwoofer to be added if desired.
