Yamaha announced the PDX-B11 portable Bluetooth speaker system that offers powerful audio playback from a wide array of sources, such as compatible music players, smartphones, tablets and laptops. The PDX-B11 has a striking and rugged octagonal design with a perforated steel grille and a “grab-and-go” chrome handle for quick transport. It is powered by an included AC adapter or from batteries, offering up to 8 hours of continuous use.
“The PDX-B11 delivers an amazingly big sound and its rugged style is equally at home in a dorm room, a backyard or at a tailgate party,” said Tom Sumner, senior vice-president, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Bluetooth music streaming is now a common feature in smartphones and many other devices; the PDX-B11 makes it easier than ever to share music.”
The PDX-B11’s auto-pairing mode provides timesaving convenience and quick wireless connections to Bluetooth devices. The speaker remembers connected devices for future use and new devices can be connected by pushing the PDX-B11’s “refresh” button to reactivate auto-pairing. Connected devices can control the PDX-B11’s volume levels remotely. The PDX-B11 will power off automatically after a period of time – either when the music stops playing, or when portable devices are disconnected.
The PDX-B11 provides full-bodied music playback via an exceptionally powerful woofer that drives extremely accurate, kicking bass and stunning midrange. A separate tweeter provides crystal clear high frequencies.

The PDX-B11 also can be connected to non-Bluetooth-enabled PCs, Macs or other digital audio players via a mini jack (3.5mm) on the back of the speaker. Yamaha also offers the Yamaha PDX-11, announced in 2011, which offers the same design with 30-pin iPod dock.
