Portable projectors became very popular during the pandemic in response to tens of millions of consumers being stuck at home and looking for a way to replace the movie theater experience. We’re big fans of the outdoor movie theater or backyard theater experience because it’s actually a great way to watch movies if you have the space to do it. XGIMI, a leading design and industry-awarded projector and laser TV brand, has announced it will showcase a new portable projector at CES 2023, the MoGo 2 Pro.
What’s New In The MoGo 2 Pro
XGIMI touts that the MoGo 2 Pro will be the first entry-level projector that is not only easy to use but is also extremely capable, featuring advanced specs. The extremely simple operation makes set-up easy as point and play – which is what XGIMI projectors are known for.
Unlike a large screen flat panel TV, which has to be placed in a stationary spot, the MoGo 2 Pro can be moved and placed in any room of the house, or even travel with you. Even traditional projectors have to be painfully set up again and again, at each new location – this is time-consuming and inconvenient. However, XGIMI has thought of that too and has come up with a creative solution.
Building on their current ISA (Intelligent Screen Adaption) technology, which includes Autofocus, Automatic Vertical Keystone Correction, Obstacle Avoidance, and Intelligent Screen Alignment, XGIMI is adding three enhancements for the 2.0 version: Seamless Auto Keystone Correction, Seamless Auto Focus, and Intelligent Eye Protection.
Most ISA functions take place without interrupting projection which is great as it doesn’t impair the viewing experience while being noticeably faster and more accurate. Intelligent focusing and stabilization occur automatically and are unnoticed by the user, as there is no physical set-up or waiting time compared to the previous version.
More Features
Although a compact entry-level projector, the MoGo 2 Pro is XGIMI states that it is designed to deliver cinema-like image quality, with crisp, clear images. The MoGo 2 Pro can project an image as large as 200 inches with a light output rating of 350 ISO lumens (via LED light source). The MoGo 2 Pro has a native 1080p display resolution (supported by a .23-inch DLP imaging chip) and HDR 10 support.
Tip: 350 lumens isn’t typically enough light to support a high-contrast projected image, and the inclusion of HDR support is interesting considering the projector’s modest lumens output, but we will find out at CES.
Update 12/20/2022: XGIMI has followed up with an indication that the MoGo 2 Pro’s light output will be higher than 350 ISO lumens.
The MoGo 2 Pro features a sleek and minimalist design with a weight of 2.2 pounds, and a height of 6.54 inches. This makes it easy to place and set up with limited room space.
More details on the new features along with any additional features, pricing, and availability will be forthcoming when MoGo 2 Pro is shown at the 2023 CES.
XGIMI’s current MoGo Pro (without the “2”) provides a good reference as the newer 2 Pro model builds on the current platform.
The current MoGo Pro ($499 at Amazon) includes:
- Android TV™ OS and Chromecast Built-in
- Bluetooth
- Harman Kardon Speaker System
- Google Assistant Support
- 3D viewing option
As finalized details are announced for the MoGo 2 Pro, they will be added to this article.
