Xantech RF2IR Base Station Named Mark of Excellence Finalist

Xantech’s Reliable and Sophisticated Multi-Room Control System Recognized by Consumer Electronics Association

Sylmar, Calif. — February 7, 2008 — Xantech Corporation, a leading producer of innovative, reliable and problem-solving custom installation signal processing and control systems, announced today that its RF2IR base station for the XTR39 color LCD remote control has been selected as a 2008 TechHome Mark of Excellence Award finalist in the Best Wireless Product category.

The Mark of Excellence Awards program, presented by CEA’s TechHome Division, recognizes the best in custom home electronics products, services and installed technology. Each year, manufacturers, distributors and systems integrators enter to compete in award categories for this coveted honor judged by independent industry experts. Winners will be announced on Friday, March 14th at the Mark of Excellence Awards Dinner, held during the EHX (Electronic House Expo) Spring event in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center.

“We are honored that the RF2IR base station is being considered for this prestigious award,” said Graham Hallett, president of Xantech. “The RF2IR makes it simple for installers to set up a reliable and sophisticated multi-room control system that is easily controlled by the XTR39 remote. I am pleased that the Mark of Excellence team has selected the RF2IR as a 2008 finalist.”

The RF2IR is a receiver that accepts the Radio Frequency output of the XTR39 remote and translates it into IR and RS232 command signals that can control virtually any home electronic device. The RF2IR, which has bi-directional capabilities, can control components up to 100 feet away. It allows for Plasma, LCD and sunlight-proof operation. The RF signal is based on the dependable IEEE 802.15 standard, and its 16 selectable sub-channels ensure an interference-free operation.

Four routable IR outputs make it simple to control the source components of virtually any home entertainment system. A single XTR39 can control up to 256 RF2IR base stations for virtually limitless control possibilities. In addition, the RS232 output makes it possible to control display devices, lighting controls and more with discrete command codes for performance.
