Worlds Smallest HDMI Switch for High Definition Displays and Projectors Now Available

Accell’s UltraAV HDMI 2-1 Switch combines affordability, style, and performance

Fremont, Calif., June 20, 2006 — Accell, a provider of premium audio/video interconnects, announced its new UltraAV HDMI 2-1 Switch. The compact UltraAV HDMI Switch enables the simultaneous connection of two audio/video sources and includes a razor thin wireless remote to easily swap between each source. It’s available today for $99 MSRP.

Today, many HD displays and projectors include only one integrated HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connector, which requires viewers to manually connect and switch between each source. Alternatively existing switches are bulky and expensive, often costing upwards of $300, placing them out of reach for many consumers. Aside from the high price, their awkward size can make them intrusive in many home theater installations. The UltraAV Switch is smaller than a deck of playing cards, allowing for a discreet, out-of-sight setup. Since the switch doesn’t use external power there is no power adapter. This innovative design saves additional space and frees up a power outlet for other equipment.

“HD displays and projectors are reaching mass consumers, and the majority of users are manually switching between their HDMI video sources,” said Michael Weizer, Accell’s Director of Marketing. “They have already spent an enormous amount of money on their A/V setup, and many opt to save the extra $300 — and rightfully so. Our UltraAV HDMI Switch was designed to deliver high performance at an affordable price. Now enthusiasts can instantly enjoy a variety of HD sources without breaking the bank, or their backs!”

The HDMI Switch maintains the highest resolutions of up to 1080p, and is compliant with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) devices. It’s backwards compatible with DVI (Digital Visual Interface) when using an HDMI-DVI adapter or cable. The switch features a wireless remote control, an infrared extender and a built-in manual toggle.
