ViewSonic 23-Inch Wide-Screen LCD Expands the Desktop View

ViewSonic today announced the VP231wb, a 23-inch wide-screen LCD monitor designed for larger display applications such as desktop entertainment and video editing. The multi-functional, HD-ready display features the company’s award-winning ThinEdge ultra-slim bezel design and multiple connectivity options, offering more value to home and business users.

Wide enough to view high-definition video content in its native 16:9 format and large enough to display dual office applications side-by-side, the VP231wb maximizes desktop display usage, as well as productivity. Pictures are bright and colorful, images are crisp and clear and motion video is smooth with the display’s high 1920×1200 resolution, 500:1 (typ) contrast ratio and low 16ms video response time. The VP231wb supports HDTV signals (480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i) and offers multiple inputs, including analog VGA and digital DVI with high-definition content protection (HDCP) to ensure the best connection possible. An integrated USB 2.0 high-speed hub enables additional connectivity options.

“As technology continues to converge, more and more multimedia is being incorporated in every day office applications, bringing high-definition content to the desktop,” said Erik Willey, senior product manager, ViewSonic. “The VP231wb provides users with the versatility and value they are looking for with a large, wide-screen multi-functional display.”

As a part of ViewSonic’s ThinEdge Series, the VP231wb offers multiple display configuration options with narrow one-half inch bezels and the ability to support extensive tiling and stacking combinations. These options satisfy growing demand for multiplayer gaming environments and larger-screen viewing by exponentially increasing the user’s screen work area. Picture-in-picture, hue, saturation and zoom levels are easily controlled by the user. Ergonomic needs also are considered in additional features such as height, tilt, swivel and portrait functions.

Available in February for an estimated street price of $1899, the VP231wb is backed by a three-year limited warranty on parts, labor and backlight, and is eligible for ViewSonic’s optional Express Exchange program, which guarantees a replacement monitor within 48 hours, where service is available. It is compliant with the strictest safety and environmental standards, including TCO. ViewSonic offers 24-hour, toll-free technical support, seven days a week, excluding major U.S. holidays.
