UMEC announced a 100 meter (330 foot) High Speed HDMI cable using Silicon on Bench (SiOB) technology into an Active Optical Cable, named the Thumb ONE. The 4.4mm in diameter cable uses optical fiber (glass) for transmission to send signals without degradation.
UMEC's Thumb ONE HDMI Optical Cable supports Dolby True HD and DTS-HD format with high resolution 2160p 30Hz (potentially 60Hz), and 48 bit Deep Color.
The hybrid cable consists of optical fibers and copper wires. At the ends of the cable are a transmitter with a type A plug connected to the source devices (e.g. Blu-ray DVD player) and a receiver with a type A plug connected to the sink devices (e.g. HDTV).
