Toshiba Introduces Redesigned Top-of-the-Line Qosmio Digital Entertainment Notebook; Qosmio G25-AV513 ‘Four-in-One’ Audio-Visual Notebook Features New Consumer Electronics Look and Feel
IRVINE, Calif.,June 14, 2005 — Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. and provider of industry-leading portable computers, projectors and other mobile-related services and products celebrating Toshiba’s 20th anniversary of the first mass-marketed laptop computer, today introduced the Qosmio G25-AV513, the company’s flagship “four-in-one” audio-visual notebook with a new consumer electronics look and feel designed to offer the ultimate digital convergence experience.
Like its predecessor, the Qosmio G25-AV513 features a two-lamp Ultimate TruBrite widescreen display that rivals the brightness of a standalone LCD TV, Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and integrated TV tuner, digital video recorder (DVR), read/write DVD/CD player, virtual surround-sound stereo and all the capabilities of a powerful, full-featured notebook PC.
Priced at $2,999, the Qosmio G25-AV513 features new consumer electronics touches designed to make the unit complement a home entertainment center, including a glossy piano-style black finish, feet on the bottom, a large volume dial that can be easily controlled even when the unit is closed, front slot-loading DVD/CD player, touch-response recessed buttons and blue LED lighting.
New features inside include a 120GB (60GB + 60GB) 5400 rpm serial ATA hard disk drives that incorporate Toshiba RAID software to give consumers the flexibility of optimum storage capacity using both drives or secure data redundancy on one drive, 1024MB DDR2 memory, and a fixed DVD SuperMulti Double Layer optical drive compatible with current DVD formats. The optical drive can nearly double storage capacity in DVD+R format.
“The newly designed Qosmio G25-AV513 offers the best digital entertainment experience of any notebook PC on the market today,” said Taro Hiyama, vice president of marketing for Toshiba’s Digital Products Division. “By leveraging our combined computer and consumer electronics expertise with the possibilities of Microsoft’s Media Center Edition, we have created a next-generation product that can serve as a true entertainment hub.”
The G25-AV513 includes the QosmioPlayer, allowing users to watch TV, DVDs or listen to CDs with a quick touch of a button on the unit or on the remote control without booting up the Windows operating system. With this feature, Qosmio owners can enjoy audio or video content within seconds just as if they were using a stand-alone TV, stereo or DVD player.
With its 5-in-1 bridge media adapter and plentiful connectivity options, Qosmio users can access and share photo and video content quickly and easily, or hook up their favorite gaming console or camcorder for on-the-fly gaming or to display home movies.
The Qosmio is optimized for a high-quality visual and audio experience. The QosmioEngine heightens video clarity and crispness by reducing digital noise and enhancing edges and colors, while SRS TruSurround XT technology with virtual surround sound and integrated harman/kardon stereo speakers (with removable grills) offer a rich audio landscape.
Also a powerful computing tool, the Qosmio G25-AV513 features Intel Centrino Mobile Technology with an Intel Pentium M processor(4) 760 and Intel PRO/Wireless(5) (802.11b/g), providing outstanding mobile performance and easy connectivity to the Internet at home or on the road at wireless hotspots. The unit also includes Bluetooth wireless technology to provide easy access to wireless accessories such as a mouse or headphones.
