Thousand Oaks, CA–April 1, 2006–
Specialized/ Sonance rider Thurlow Rogers won the 45+ Masters Category at the First Annual Ventura County Classic held in Thousand Oaks this past weekend. Taking a commanding lead from the start Thurlow left everyone else to race for 2nd place. Sonance/Specialized team members used strong support tactics and launched a separate group off the front halfway thru the race to vie for the remaining top places. Keith Ketterer won the sprint for 2nd place. Steve Strickler, Jay Wolkoff and Malcolm Hill took places 5 thru 7 to round out the Sonance/Specialized results in the top 10.
Thurlow Rogers raced in the 35+ race less than an hour later and looked to be poised to be a winner again. On the last lap the break away group was caught but two riders stayed out front to take the top places. Dan Vogt played out perfect tactics to take the field sprint for 3rd place with Thurlow following closely behind for 4th place.
