TelecomTV — the UK-based webTV portal devoted exclusively to the world’s ICT sector — last week confirmed itself as the global leader in its market by providing a live TV station, complete with custom-built studio and roving TV news crews, at the industry’s leading mobile communications event — the 3GSM World Congress 2006 in Barcelona.
The show involved nearly 1,000 exhibitors and drew a record 50,000 visitors, which made it the biggest mobile show on earth and probably the largest telecoms event anywhere in the world. TelecomTV, as the official media partner, provided a total package of TV support, including two giant screens — one 40 m2 and one 34 m2 to allow visitors to witness the news as it happened.
“TelecomTV has led the way in terms of developing and delivering a dynamic new media platform that uniquely captures the buzz of the Congress in real time,” said Mark Smith, Media Communications Director of the GSMA. “It provides a fantastic service to the event – packaging and delivering news and hot topic debates so that extremely busy visitors, delegates and exhibitors can stay in touch with the frenetic pace of developments at the show.”
Throughout the show Telecom TV interviewed industry leading figures. They included the thought leaders Peter Erskine, CEO of 02; Bruce Chizen, CEO of Adobe; Sanjiv Ahuja, CEO of Orange; Jim Basillie, CEO of RIM and Ulli Gritzuhn, CMO of T-Mobile.
“3GSM was a great test of our capability — from interviewing and filming to technology and logistics and we are absolutely delighted with the way the whole event turned out,” said Telecom TV Managing Director Sean Carr.
“This show was the launchpad for an exciting 2006 for the company and we will learn a great deal from it as we continue to expand and to deliver a unique service across the industry.”
Telecom TV, whose website www.telecomtv.com attracts more than 100,000 viewers a month, has a heavy schedule ahead, including the CeBIT show in Germany, the IEC-organised 21st Century Communications World Forum in London and the CTIA Wireless 2006 event in Las Vegas, United States.
