TCL has had a growing presence at CES for the past few years and it is safe to say that they came to CES 2024 with a rather well positioned lineup of new TVs that are truly worth checking out. Whatever “budget” reputation they once had — it’s time to take some of their better products a lot more seriously.
What has TCL done lately that has us rather enthusiastic about their products?
Some of the notable introductions into the North American market include the world’s first big-screen QLED TV and the world’s first Mini LED TV.
To bolster its TV product performance, TCL developed its own AIPQ Processor. AiPQ (Artificial Intelligence Picture Quality) uses a series of algorithms to further fine-tune HDR, upscaling, and contrast in real-time for a more consistent-looking image.
TCL’s 2024 S Class and QLED Q Class 4K TVs are designed to reinforce TCL’s strength in the market.
Table of contents:
- TCL S Class (S5) TV – (LED, 43″ – 85″, entry-level)
- TCL Q6 (QLED, 43″ – 98″)
- TCL Q6 Pro (QLED, 50″ – 85″ with local dimming)
- TCL QM7 (QD Mini LED, 55″ – 98″)
- TCL QM8 (QD Mini LED ULTRA, 65″ – 98″, top-of-the-line)
- TCL QM89 (QD Mini LED ULTIMATE, 115″)
Tip: As the model numbers increase, the quality, size and performance also increase.
TCL S Class TV
Starting with the basics, TCL is introducing a new S5 model series. The S5 incorporates a 4K UHD display resolution with a High Brightness LED Backlight for up to 25% more brightness and enhanced color, resulting in more vibrant images.
The S5 series also includes an updated AIPQ Processor with AI Super Resolution to bolster its bright colorful, sharp, and clear images. The S5 includes HDR PRO+ (Dolby Vision and HDR10+).
For audio, the S5 includes a new Enhanced Dialog Mode and the new TV as Center Channel Mode for added listening flexibility.
The TCL S5 will also be the first S Class model to receive custom install capability for more advanced applications. With a FullView 360 cosmetic design, the S5 is designed to look good from the front, back, and side. The S5 for 2024 will be available in 43 to 85 inch screen sizes.
TCL Q Class TVs
TCL’s Q Class TVs all incorporate Quantum Dot Technology for enhanced color performance.
Q6
The Q6, adds a High Brightness Plus LED Backlight for an additional 28% more brightness. The combination of high color and more brightness means more color volume for better overall picture quality. For gamers, Q6 includes the Game Accelerator 120 feature that allows fast 120 VRR gaming.
TCL’s 85-inch and larger Q6 models include a native 120Hz Panel Refresh Rate with clear fast motion so gamers can step up to Game Accelerator 240 for fast 240 VRR gaming on a big-screen TV. The new Q6 will be available in 43 to 98-inch screen sizes.
Q6 Pro
The Q6-Pro shares all the features of the Q6 but adds a Full Array Local Dimming for deeper black levels and up to 33% more brightness with 600 peak nits. In addition, Q6-Pro offers hands-free voice control, a backlit remote, and adjustable width feet on larger sizes. The Q6-Pro will be available in 50 to 85 inch screen sizes.
QM7
The QM7 takes things up a notch with premium High Zone QD Mini LED with precise control of up to 1,500+ Zones. It also adds the new High Brightness ULTRA LED Backlight with incredible brightness up to 2,400 peak nits, and QLED color PRO. Utilizing the enhanced TCL AIPQ PRO Processor, the QM7 is a high-speed, high-zone TV.
QM7 includes a host of other technologies including a native 120Hz Panel Refresh Rate on all screen sizes, Game Accelerator 240, HDR ULTRA with Dolby Vision IQ, a 2.1 Channel Speaker System with built-in subwoofer, and an elegant adjustable height pedestal stand (65- to 85-inch sizes). With IMAX Enhanced Certification and AMD FreeSync Premium Certification, the TCL QM7 is a certified winner. The new QM7 will be available in 55 to 98 inch screen sizes.
QM8
At the flagship level is the QM8 which includes the incredible QD Mini LED ULTRA for Ultra High Zone Dimming with up to 5,000+ Zones. This is more than twice the number of zones of the previous TCL flagship level sets for deeper blacks. For additional support, a High Brightness ULTIMATE LED Backlight with up to 5,000 peak nits and QD color ULTRA are included. TCL claims the QM8 may be the brightest TV so far.
The QM8 includes all the great features of the QM7, plus an Anti-Glare Screen to maintain contrast in ambient room light conditions, a 2.1.2 Channel Speaker System with Built-in Dolby Atmos Speakers for a wider and higher sound stage, and Next Gen TV and Wi-Fi 6 for “future-proofing.” The new QM8 will be available in 65 to 98 inch screen sizes.
QM89 115-inch TV
The QM8 may officially be TCL’s flagship TV series for 2024, but it still has one more TV up its sleeve. In a previous report, we revealed that Hisense will be offering a 110-inch TV for 2024, but it also looks like TCL is throwing down a direct challenge to Hisense and others that it is the king of large screen TVs with the 115QM89 115-inch TV.
If sheer screen size wasn’t enough, the 115QM89 includes QD Mini LED ULTIMATE with a massively high 20,000 dimming zones. It also incorporates the TCL AIPQ ULTRA Processor, as even more horsepower is needed for such high zone control to ensure huge, yet pristine images. The 115QM89 includes all the features of the other QM8 models, plus a 6.2.2 Channel Speaker system for more room-filling sound.
