TCL recently showcased their high-end TV models designated for the European and Global markets, but they also have a big impact on the U.S. TV market. With aggressive pricing and advanced capabilities, such as QLED, mini-LED, and affordable 8K, TCL is one of the top-selling brands available.
TRIVIA: TCL owns the naming rights to the former famed Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
Also, for the U.S., TCL offers TV models that incorporate the Roku OS platform, bringing access to over 5,000 channels of streaming content without viewers having to connect an external streaming stick or box to the TV.
Tip: TCL also offers a line of TVs that incorporate the Google TV platform as well, although implementation has been a little “rocky”.
For 2022, TCL has announced new 5 and 6 series 4K UHD Roku TV models. The Roku OS provides all of the capabilities of Roku’s other streaming devices, including their streaming sticks and smart soundbars (streambars). Of course, having Roku built-in isn’t the only reason to consider these sets.
Other Features on TCL Roku TVs
In addition to the Roku OS, all TCL 5 and 6 series Roku TVs support the following advanced features in addition to 4K UHD resolution.
QLED: This means the TV features a layer of Quantum Dots that is placed between the LED backlight and LCD display layers to enhance color performance.
HDR Pro Pack: The 5 and 6 series TVs are compatible with the Dolby Vision HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG HDR formats. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ analyze the brightness and contrast in each frame or scene of encoded content and display bright and dark objects more accurately.
AiPQ (Artificial Intelligence Picture Quality): A series of algorithms further fine-tune HDR, upscaling, and contrast in real-time for a more consistent-looking image.
Premium Audio: Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Plus pass-through compatibility via HDMI-eARC.
Voice Control: TCL 5 and 6 Roku TVs are compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri voice control.
Bonus Features on TCL 6 Series TVs
miniLED: The TCL 6-series adds mini-LED backlighting with up to 360 contrast control Zones for a more precise display of bright and dark objects.
Game Studio Pro: In addition to Auto Game Mode with ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) included on 2021 series 6 and 5 TCL Roku TVS, for 2022, TCL includes 144Hz refresh rate capability on Series 6 Roku TVs. The 6 and 5 Series are also AMD FreeSynch certified. In addition, there are four HDMI 2.1 ports. On the Series 6 set two of the ports support up to the 4K/144Hz refresh rate.
