Groundbreaking SubRosa Subwoofer Receives Prestigious International Award
New York, NY, November 13, 2007 — The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced Sunfire as an International CES Innovations 2007 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for its SubRosa subwoofer at the International CES New York Press Preview. Products entered in this celebrated program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade press to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics products.
In fact, as one of the top vote getters in Home Theater Loudspeakers, SubRosa was propelled to the elite status of “Best of Innovations”. Sunfire’s SubRosa subwoofers with StillBass anti-shake technology exemplify the company’s no-compromise design approach in producing prodigious amounts of thunderous bass while eliminating unwanted vibrations in or outside of the wall.
Sunfire’s SubRosa subwoofers will be displayed and demonstrated in the Sunfire Suite # 28110 in the Las Vegas Hilton at the 2008 International CES, which runs January 7-10, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV.
The Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase at CES will feature honorees by product category at Innovations Plus at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Booth #70621. Best of Innovations honoree products will also displayed at the Grand Lobby of Las Vegas Convention Center throughout the show and at CES Unveiled: The Official Press Event of the International CES.
“With SubRosa, Sunfire has rewritten the book on bass. With powerful solutions for both in-wall and in-room, we have once again raised the bar by successfully combining high style with high performance”, commented Mark Weisenberg, General Manager for Sunfire. “The SubRosa is yet another example of the unconventional design approach that Sunfire has become famous for.”
The SRS-210W ($3000 MSRP) combines dual 10″ High Back-emf drivers designed specifically for in-wall use. Custom engineered by Sunfire to match the SubRosa amplifiers’ unprecedented power, the robust drivers feature inverted surrounds and die-cast baskets for highest possible performance.
Utilizing the same low-profile, custom 10″ woofers, the SRS-210R ($3500 MSRP) stands a mere 3.75″ deep — making it the world’s first flat panel, high-performance subwoofer that gracefully complements popular wall-mounted flat screen displays. This versatile design is ideal for installations where high performance is required but in-wall subs or obtrusive in-room cabinet subs are not practical.
Along with their stealthy profile, these two high performance subs couple 2700 watts of legendary Sunfire power making them the world’s most powerful subwoofers. Both the SRS-210W and SRS-210R systems use the 2700 watt SRA-2700EQ mono-block amplifier, featuring Sunfire’s patented Tracking Downconverter (TDC) technology.
SubRosa, Latin for ‘behind the scenes’ or ‘operating in concealment’, describes the new Sunfire subs perfectly. In a market increasingly driven by invisible, space-saving solutions, Sunfire’s SubRosa subwoofers are precisely what consumers and dealers are looking for. A fact that is generally unknown or overlooked, most in-wall subwoofers are “de-tuned”, meaning that they will not play as loud or as low as their in-room counterparts. This is due to the adverse affects that occur from a large cabinet shaking within a wall.
In addition, both SubRosa models come standard with Sunfire’s patent-pending StillBass anti-shake technology that reduces unwanted wall vibrations, delivering cleaner, tighter more musical bass. By combining a powerful subwoofer design with a patented vibro-tactile I-BEAM, SubRosa produces prodigious amounts of bass while at the same time reducing unwanted vibrations. And a low profile design allows the SRS-210W in-wall to fit into a standard 2 X 4 wall cavity.
Following Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion, the I-BEAM creates opposing forces which reduce mechanical vibrations caused by the movement of SubRosa’s large 10″ woofers — when the woofers move out, the I-BEAM moves in (and vice versa). The result is the most powerful in-wall subwoofer available.
About CES Innovations
As a widely renowned consumer technology awards program that began in 1989, the prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Awards recognize achievements in product design and engineering.
The program is sponsored by CEA, the producer of the International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow. It is also endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the voice of industrial design, committed to advancing the profession through education, information, community and advocacy.
All Innovations entries are judged based on the following criteria:
· Engineering qualities of the product
· The product’s intended use/function and user value
· Aesthetic and design qualities (using visuals provided)
· Unique and novel features
· Contributions to consumers’ quality of life
· Impact on the manufacturer’s business model
