New USB Video Converters from StarTech.com Make it Easy for Users to Add Multi-Display Capabilities to their PC
StarTech.com, a leading manufacturer of hard-to-find connectivity and technology parts, today announced the availability of two new devices designed to provide users with a convenient, cost-effective means of adding a second or third display to their computer – the USB2VGA2 USB 2.0 to VGA Display Adapter and the USB2DVI USB 2.0 to DVI Display Adapter. Both adapters connect to a single USB 2.0 port on a host computer, and offer either a VGA Out port or DVI Out port, that can be used in addition to the existing VGA or DVI capability provided by an installed or onboard graphics card.
“These products provide a very versatile and simple way to add multi-display capability without the expense of additional video cards,” said John Mardinly, Product Manager for StarTech.com. “Having the ability to add VGA or DVI monitors to a computer is definitely of value in a number of settings. Due to the portability and ease of use they offer, these devices appeal to a broad demographic, ranging from businesses and consumers to Point-of-Sale and kiosk environments where the products’ small form factor is vital to overall aesthetics.”
The USB 2.0 to VGA Display Adapter (USB2VGA2) supports up to five separate monitors (when used with five USB2VGA2 adapters), offering display resolutions of up to 1600 x 1200 (32-bit), and up to 1920×1600 at 16-bit color quality. MSRP is $116.99 (USD).
The USB 2.0 to DVI Display Adapter (USB2DVI) supports up to five separate monitors (when used with five USB2DVI adapters) and supports display resolutions up to 1600×1200 (standard) (@32 bits) and 1680×1050 (wide) (@ 32 bits). MSRP is $ 179.99 (USD).
