Denver, CO, September 4, 2007 — soundmatters international inc. will feature its SUBstageTM200 “stealth” subwoofer at the 2007 CEDIA Expo in Denver, CO.
Identical in size to the SUBstageTM100, which is currently available, the new SUBstageTM200 (formerly known as the SUBstage250) features a radically thin footprint that complements current trends in flat panel television displays. This particular model offers deep, resonant bass response down to 32Hz.
“The original SUBstage became a fast favorite with consumers because it offers excellent bass response from a shoe box-sized cabinet that literally disappears in most rooms,” said Lee Adams, soundmatters’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
“The SUBstage200 is designed for consumers with larger rooms or who just want a little deeper, more powerful subwoofer. It features surprisingly high-end performance that is typical of subs twice the price and five times its size.”
Designed by audio legend and company founder Dr. Godehard Guenther to be hidden under or behind furniture, hung on a wall, or out on display, the SUBstage200, similar to its predecessor, provides a unique alternative to in-wall or traditional box subwoofers. The compact corrugated steel sealed enclosure, which measures 4.05″ x 16.7″ x 8″ (H/W/D), utilizes patent-pending flat-magic technology to create internal pressure so high that it couples the spiderless, dual neodymium magnet, 6.5″ extreme-energyTM driver with two rectangular “moving walls,” effectively creating a single 14″ piston.
The SUBstage200 features a new cast aluminum basket woofer drive system than the earlier model, is driven by a highly efficient on-board 200-watt Class D amplifier. For additional output or to smooth out room anomalies, it can be daisy-chained to create a bass board along a floor or wall, with every doubling of modules increasing the output capacity by +6dB.
The SUBstage’s patented driver is magnetically shielded to allow its placement in direct proximity of a video or computer monitor. Thanks to its narrow footprint and low-profile design, the SUBstage200 is engineered for horizontal placement on the floor (e.g. under beds, sofas, and chairs), or vertical placement behind credenzas or big-screen video displays. Seamless integration with any A/V system is ensured, thanks to a built-in power supply, continuously variable crossover and phase controls, and a switchable +3dB EQ at 70Hz.
The SUBstage200 (U.S. MAP: $399) will ship in November, along with an optional wall-mount kit.
