Sony announced the WX-GT90BT Double-DIN In-Dash CD receiver, which provides a bigger display and easy-to-use key buttons for safety operation while driving. With Sony-exclusive App remote for USB-connected iPhones and Bluetooth connected Android smartphones, users can control the head unit from their compatible device. The app turns connected smartphones into touchscreen remotes and consumers can launch their favorite smartphone app on the App Remote user interface. This App Remote is free of charge for Apple App Store and Google Play members, and subject to the app’s terms and conditions.
Drivers no longer have to go back-and-forth between the car audio system and smartphone to access a favorite tune. Music information such as album artwork is displayed on the smartphone screen, while incoming text messages can be read aloud on Android phones through the car’s speakers for ultimate driving convenience.
Bluetooth is built-in to the new WX-GT90BT head unit, enabling hands free calling, music streaming, wireless playback, track control, and display of song information from Bluetooth enabled MP3 players or smartphones. Mobile devices can also connect to the head unit via front panel USB input.
Sony continues to integrate control of Pandora internet radio into its new receivers. The Pandora-ready head unit let consumers listen to and control Pandora streaming content through connected iPhone, Android, and Blackberry phones. Drivers will experience richer sound and customizable audio settings with Sony’s Advanced Sound Engine.
The WX-GT90BT is also Sirius XM-Ready, using the new SXV200 SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner Kit (sold separately, SiriusXM subscription required). The new SXV200V is the first SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner that receives an expanded channel lineup from SiriusXM with exclusive programming, providing more commercial-free music, plus sports and comedy, including SiriusXM Latino, 20 channels of the most comprehensive Latin programming lineup available to radio listeners, featuring 10 exclusive commercial-free music channels.
