San Jose, Calif. (Feb 14, 2005)–Silicon Optix’s OptiScale video scaler-switcher has been honored as the “Best New Digital Signal Processing product” by Gary Kayye for his rAVe 2005 Radical Product of the Year Awards.

“Silicon Optix’s OptiScale is the ultimate home theater scaler out there right now,” commented Gary Kayye, publisher of rAVe Home Edition.

“Radical Product Award winners represent not only the best technological innovations of the year in their market category, but are also destined to set a trend for the future of the entire AV market,” said Kayye.
OptiScale is a powerful scaler-switcher that accepts, switches, and scales a wide variety of input signals to a multitude of popular output resolutions. Input switching between channels is accomplished in about one second and is completely artifact-free. State-of-the-art de-interlacing is applied to all 480-line SDTV interlaced input signals and 1080-line HDTV interlaced input signals.
Input signals include RGB analog, RGB DVI, two channels of SDTV composite, one channel of SDTV S-video, one channel of SDTV component, and one channel of HDTV component. All output resolutions in the range of VGA (640 x 480) to SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) are supported. Popular 16:9 output formats such as WXGA (1366 x 768), WVGA (852 x 480) and 720p (1280 x 720), are also provided. Using the 65-tap image filter technology of the embedded Silicon Optix sxW1 Image Processing IC, OptiScale attains the highest possible quality of image scaling for all scaling ratios.
