Sherwood America Inc. announced today the RD-7505, a 7.1 channel dual-zone receiver with HDMI 1.4 capability, making it 3D ready. It provides 100 watts for each of its seven channels of amplification and also offers optional Bluetooth connectivity.
The new RD-7505 is the choice for listeners who do not need networking, which is offered in Sherwood's new RD-705i receiver. The RD-7505 offers a HDMI repeater and can internally process the Dolby TruHD and DTS-HD Master Audio high-resolution audio formats, and it also provides processing for Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic IIz, DTS 96/24, DTS ES and DTS Neo6. Eight additional DSP surround modes are also available.
The receiver's superior audio quality is achieved through the use of 192 kHz/24 bit D to A converters for all seven channels, along with seven fully discrete amplifiers, each rated at 100 watts RMS into 8 ohms, at less than 0.2% THD.
In addition to three HDMI inputs and a single HDMI output, four composite inputs and two composite outputs are provided, as well as three A/V inputs and two A/V outputs Inputs for audio include one digital coaxial, two digital optical and seven stereo analog. One analog output is also available. By adding an optional plug-in Sherwood Bluetooth adaptor, the RD-7505 can receive streaming audio from Bluetooth components such as smart phones and PCs.
Users can easily configure their system setup through Sherwood's automated SNAP system, which, using a provided test microphone, performs a full system calibration that includes room equalization. A separate Cinema EQ control can be used to tame overly bright soundtracks.
To eliminate lip-sync problems, each input has an individually adjustable A/V sync control. For playback at lower volume levels and when others cannot be disturbed, the RD-7505's multi-stage Dynamic Range control limits maximum volume while ensuring that soft passages can still be heard.
A Dual Zone capability in the RD-7505 makes playback in a second room possible when the main room is in a 5.1 channel configuration. For broadcasts, the receiver is Sirius ready, and it provides excellent support for conventional radio reception, with a 4 Gang Quartz PLL Synthesized FM Tuner and AM receiver, offering 30 presets. Playback of iPod music libraries is possible when used with Sherwood's DS-10 iPod dock, which can be controlled through the receiver's Sherwood DigiLink-I capability. Up to 8 components can be controlled by its preprogrammed IR remote control.
The RD-7505 has a suggested retail price of $399.95, and the receiver is available in November 2010.
