Screen Innovations Goes Back to School

Austin, Texas — December 8, 2005 — One of the hottest trends at universities across the land is bringing their communal “Student Union” space up to speed, vis-a-vis designing and procuring the latest high technology has to offer. Obviously, that means that in addition to having wireless hi-band internet access available, the old pinball machines will have to give way to video games. And at the top of the list that demonstrates a college’s exceptional good taste, is the acquisition of a state-of-the-art video presentation system.

The biggest obstacle a Student Union has to address when putting together their private cinema is being able to keep the lights on (for those pesky intellectuals who actually want to study while the football game rages in all its glory on the big screen), and still produce a great picture with exceptional color and rich contrast. Enter Screen Innovations and their remarkable Visage projection screen that produces phenomenal picture from today’s digital projectors even in brightly lit environments.

The success of the Visage screen attracted the eye of the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) and their buying group, ACUI Procure. In a newly formed partnership, Screen Innovations will offer their projection screens to ACUI Procure in order for the buying group’s collegian members to purchase directly from the source.

“Our Visage screen was specifically designed to work in brightly lit areas and we’ve had a tremendous response since its recent introduction,” said Screen Innovations’ CEO, John McCumber. “In a Student Union type of environment, with the right projector, we’ll be able to deliver a gorgeous picture for either film or live television presentations, so we’re excited to team up with ACUI Procure. I just wish they had something like this when I was in school.”

The Screen Innovations Visage screen, with optics by DNP, features a patented high-contrast filter that covers 60% of the screen surface. This filter allows the projected image to be reflected by the screen and effectively absorbs incidental light from other angles from such sources as windows and room lighting. As a result, the screen is virtually unaffected by ambient light.

This new technology represents a true breakthrough as it allows viewers to enjoy a realistic home theater experiences in environments other than darkened rooms. Visage revolutionizes screen technology, letting customers enjoy the benefits of big-screen entertainment in virtually any setting, transforming home theater into home entertainment.

About ACUI and ACUI Procure

Founded in 1914, the Association of College Unions International is a nonprofit educational organization that brings together college union and student activities professionals from hundreds of schools in seven countries. Its members work on urban and rural campuses, in two-year and four-year institutions, and at large and small schools. They are students and administrators whose mission is to build campus community. ACUI enriches them all through education, advocacy, and the delivery of services.

The Association of College Unions International realizes that by combining its members’ purchasing power, it can save union professionals time and money in obtaining the products and services they need. ACUI Procure is *the* group buying program for college unions. There is no need for union professionals to spend time shopping or researching the best prices; ACUI Procure does the work for them. When members ask for a Quick Quote on a specific item, such as audio-visual displays, ACUI Procure finds the source and secures favorable pricing. Additionally, many vendors offer the opportunity for institutions to earn annual rebates through their participation in ACUI Procure.
