Screen Excellence Performance Series Screens

Screen Excellence, the ultimate brand for high-performance, acoustically transparent, moire free projection screens, has launched a new value-oriented line. North American distributor, StJohn Group, announced the immediate availability of the fixed frame “Performance” Series in four sizes — 70″, 80″, 87″ and 95″ (width of viewing area). The Performance Series by Screen Excellence joins the company’s already established Reference fixed and motorized series and True Aspect Masking screen series and is designed from the ground up for today’s rapidly growing group of value-conscious digital home theater projectors.

Retail pricing for the 16:9 (1.78) native aspect ratio projection screen begins at $1,630 for a 70″ wide viewable area.

Much like in a commercial cinema, the Screen Excellence performance screens allow placement of the center speaker, or all front channel speakers, behind the screen — the only way to create the most realistic cinematic experience by actually matching the sound to action on the screen.

All Performance Series screens are shipped with pre-cut Enlightor 2 acoustically transparent (AT) matte white screen fabric and integrated black backing fabric for mitigating light reflections behind the screen surface. The frame is a luxurious velour-coated beveled aluminum, only 3.15″ wide. Installation is quick and simple.

StJohn Group’s John Caldwell, sales director, summarized, “Screen Excellence’s new Performance Series fixed frame screens are exactly what our dealers have been asking for with the recent, dramatic rise in high quality entry level digital projectors. By focusing the line around four common sizes, we can create economies of scale in pricing that allow our dealers to sell an AT screen to a wider segment of the market than ever before. The timing is perfect for our dealers to bundle Performance Series screens with our value-engineered new Blackwing One, 3-chip LCoS projector coming on line from Cineversum in mid-December.

Key Features of Performance Screens

  • Exclusive Enlightor 2 fabric — giving optimum image and sound permeability, with black backing layer for mitigating light reflections from behind the screen.
  • No moire effect – Ideal for use with today’s growing group of entry level home theater digital projectors using DLP, LCD, LCoS and other fixed-pixel projectors
  • Unity gain (0.95) Enlightor 2 projection surface for no hot-spotting
  • Flat projection surface
  • Stylish lightweight, velour-coated frame
  • Available in four popular sizes; 16:9 format only
  • Priced for the budget-conscious consumer

About Screen Excellence
Screen Excellence offers the most advanced Acoustically Transparent (AT) screens available today. Using the proprietary Enlightor woven screen fabrics, their state-of-the-art screens provide flawless picture quality and acoustic transparency, superior to perforated vinyl screens or other woven screen materials. Only the best finish, build quality and mechanical features are standard for Screen Excellence.
Behind this rich heritage is Patrice Congard, founder and CEO of Screen Excellence. Mr. Congard is the originator of the modern acoustically transparent screen and is a leading innovator of the technology. His entire career has been focused on delivering superb engineering solutions to a variety of professional and consumer audio projects. The development of acoustically transparent screens is the natural solution he envisioned after providing loudspeaker systems that had to be accommodated around screens — not in their natural position, which, as in commercial applications, he believes to be behind the screen.
