IPTV Asia Forum has announced that Scientific-Atlanta is to be its Platinum Sponsor for the its high profile pan-Asian summit due to take place in Hong Kong on November 28-29. The two–day event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong will cover all the main issues around the implementation of IPTV, from transmission technology to digital rights management. Scientific-Atlanta will take a leading role in the event and will introduce the summit with a keynote speech by its vice president, system architecture and chief technical officer for Transmission Networks, Sandeep Vohra.
In his keynote speech on the first day of the event, Sandeep Vohra will discuss how IPTV will be a platform for the “Digital Life” of the future. He will describe the impact of IPTV as it delivers new opportunities for entertainment, information and communications services.
“The consumer will drive the IPTV entertainment environment,” says Vohra. “They want to watch what they want, when they want and IPTV will open additional avenues to enable consumers to access a truly personal entertainment experience. While IPTV networks are very complex to implement, the payback will be in delivering new options that are very appealing to consumers.”
Scientific-Atlanta is a leading supplier of digital content contribution and distribution systems, transmission networks for broadband access to the home, digital interactive set-tops, subscriber systems, and cable modems designed for video, high-speed Internet and Voice over IP (VoIP) networks, and worldwide customer service and support. Commenting on the sponsorship announcement, Asia Forum organiser Ian Johnson said: “As a major player in the provision of technology for IPTV, for both the service provider and the consumer, Scientific-Atlanta is an ideal partner for the IPTV Asia Forum. Their involvement as a platinum sponsor gives additional credibility to the event and complements the broad spectrum of sponsors, speakers and delegates who have already pledged their support.”
