SANYO, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of LCD and DLP projectors adds the portable widescreen WXGA PLC-WXU700 LCD projector to their broad lineup of projectors. Key features of the projector include the world’s first high-speed 802.11n wireless LAN capability, video streaming, full (1280×800) WXGA resolution, 3800 lumens and compatibility with the Windows Vista Network Projector Function.
“The Widescreen WXGA Ultra Portable Projector market is expected to grow significantly in 2009,” says Mark Holt, Vice President and General Manager for SANYO’s Presentation Technologies Division. “The PLC-WXU700 was designed with the most advanced features to meet the needs of the market with the industry’s first high-speed ‘n’ wireless functionality, video streaming and the highest brightness in its class for superior images in any environment.”
IEEE802.11n High-Speed Wireless LAN Functionality and HD Video Playback
The WXGA PLC-WXU700 is the first projector to offer IEEE802.11n high-speed wireless LAN capabilities, significantly increasing transmission speeds currently available for portable projectors with wireless functionality. Seamless video playback is performed using advanced video streaming, which allows playback of video stored on a computer’s hard drive to start playback even as the file is being streamed, or downloaded to the projector. The projector’s video streaming and playback is compatible with MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, and WMV file types.
Incorporating Windows Embedded CE 6.0 software, the PLC-WXU700 can be used as a network projector on any computer running Windows Vista. The content on any PC monitor from a LAN can be transmitted wirelessly to the projector, eliminating a complicated setup with special programs or drivers. By opening Windows Vista Network Projector function on a PC, the computer will search for the projector and complete the connection with a single click.
Additionally, images and video saved on a portable USB memory drive can be instantly read and projected even without a computer, due to the projector’s Memory Viewer Function. By inserting SANYO’s USB memory drive into any PC or MAC with wireless capability, only a single click (in most cases) is required to create a wireless connection to the projector. Instantly, the computer’s screen is projected. No special programs or drivers need to be installed on the computer because the projector’s USB terminal even allows the use of computers that do not have CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drives, such as newly popular Netbooks.
Easy Set-up Functions
The PLC-WXU700 incorporates SANYO’s latest Easy Set-up Function, which includes: Auto Input Signal Search, Auto Vertical Keystone Correction, and a Guidance Function. The Auto Input Signal Search automatically detects the input signal and makes the necessary internal settings. The Auto Vertical Keystone Correction function automatically detects its position angle and corrects for any image distortion. And finally, the Guidance Function displays on-screen connection instructions when there is no input signal detected, enabling easy setup for expert users and novices alike.
The projector’s power turns on as soon as the power cord is connected. There is no need to press any buttons on the remote control or the projector. Moreover, there is no need to wait for the lamp to cool down after a presentation. The power cord can be disconnected immediately after turning off the projector. This makes it possible to set up and move through a presentation quickly or on the fly and it saves energy too!
Other Features
A widescreen native aspect ratio (1280 x 800) is compatible with today’s more popular computer monitor and laptop aspect ratios. While compact and lightweight, at less than eight pounds, the projector boasts the brightest image of its class. By delivering a super bright 3800 lumens it is perfect for brightly lit conference halls and classrooms. The PLC-WXU700 is also equipped with improved light usage efficiency from a high-output 275-watt lamp. It also employs SANYO’s latest optical engine and cooling technologies to ensure maximum image quality and performance.
The PLC-WXU700 offers Picture-In-Picture and Picture-By-Picture functions plus the wide 1.6x optical zoom lens that allows for flexible placement, regardless of the size of the room, or where the projector is located. The optical zoom lens allows for screen size adjustments and maintains image quality at the full zoom setting. Due to the 1280 x 800 (16:10) resolution, the projector can be used in a variety of applications, making it capable of projecting high definition images from cable/satellite or DVD sources or delivering a computer presentation.
The environmental impact of the PLC-WXU700 was carefully considered in its design, conforming to the European RoHS Directive and using packaging that contains pulp molds, which can be recycled as used paper.
