San Jose, CA–(Jan 8th, 2007)–Silicon Optix, the leader in programmable video processors, announced today that the Reon-VX HQV video processor will be featured in Samsung’s BD-P1200 Blu-ray player. The player will be available in March 2007.
HQV’s true 1080i to 1080p HD deinterlacing delivers the sharpest, most detailed HD images possible by employing per-pixel motion adaptive algorithms and a sophisticated multi-directional diagonal filter that ensures video free from jagged edges. The powerful HQV processing engine also provides per-pixel motion adaptive noise-reduction, detail enhancement and advanced scaling delivering premium quality up-converted SD material.
Blu-ray is the premier next generation optical disc format and is supported by more than 170 of the world’s leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers. While current optical disc technologies such as DVD, DVD±R, DVD±RW, and DVD-RAM rely on a red laser to read and write data, the new format uses a blue-violet laser which better utilizes the space on the disc allowing more than five times the amount of information.
The Samsung BD-P1200 plays Blu-ray software titles at the highest resolution available via a native 1080p HDMI output for films digitally mastered in 1920 x 1080p. The BD-P1200 also up-converts conventional DVDs to 1080p through the HDMI digital interface so the picture quality of any traditional DVD will look noticeably more detailed when used with the disc player. The BD-P1200 is backwards compatible and plays both standard DVDs and CDs in addition to supporting all DVD formats including, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW, and DVD+R.
Additionally, .the player’s HDMI connection helps boost the sound quality (via 7.1-channel Dolby Digital Plus) and color. This HDMI connection also offers Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) technology, which enables a single remote control unit to operate the BD player, TV and other A/V products from Samsung. With the BD-P1200 model’s HDMI connections, consumers will get superior audio/video quality, with incredible ease and convenience of use.
In addition, the BD-P1200 model supports the 192KHz LPCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, MPEG 2, DTS and MP3 formats for complete versatility in entertainment. The ‘Easy Top Menu’ allows consumers to change the font and color of subtitles and menu titles according to their tastes, as well as the background color and menu graphics.
