Compatibility with virtually any multiroom system, user-to-user intercom and global paging make ComPoint the system of choice
NEWMARKET, N.H., Sept. 7, 2005 — Russound today announced its ComPoint intercom system, which provides home and business owners with a full-featured communications system. ComPoint can be used as a stand-alone system or in conjunction with most multiroom audio-video systems. Getting the word out is easier than ever via user-to-user intercom and global paging through existing in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. Instead of an intercom with embedded speakers in the keypad, ComPoint takes advantage of multiroom audio speakers so users don’t have to sacrifice sound quality for home communications and security. ComPoint will be available in December 2005 US Domestic MAP TBD.
From any keypad, ComPoint enables users to converse with one another or to screen visitors to the home. An optional Door Strike Release Module sends a message to allow entry into the residence. For added convenience, users can choose “Do Not Disturb” mode for blocking messages to their zone, and instead listen to the multiroom audio, uninterrupted. For added security, a single zone can be set to Listen Mode to broadcast throughout the system, enabling easy supervision over a different section of the home.
ComPoint systems consist of Russound’s ISK1 or ISK2 keypads networked to an ISH1 Hub, which contains system functionality such as message routing and doorbell chimes. The Hub includes seven chimes, two of which can be assigned to two different door stations for unique doorbell identification. The ISK2 keypads and ISH1 can be combined for up to 36 zones, for
larger homes or businesses. The keypads, equipped with intuitive displays and amplifiers to drive up to two standard speakers, allow control of the system from any “zone” in the home.
ComPoint supports up to two ISK3 external door stations that can be combined with optional electric door strike release modules that work through third-party hardware for remote access control. The ISK3 door stations are available in three finishes to match any home, polished brass, antique brass and brushed chrome.
“ComPoint offers all the features home and business owners need to keep tabs on what’s happening around them without the expense of adding redundant systems,” said Russound Product Manager Roger Soucy. “ComPoint provides the convenience of paging and intercom service in a practical, easy to use package that extends the capabilities of their multi-room audio system beyond entertainment.”
