Runco Projectors Bring Home Hollywoods Widest Pictures

UNION CITY, CALIFORNIA — September 10, 2004 — Runco International, the home theater video technology pioneer, continues to establish new standards for home cinema excellence by upgrading a number of its renowned Digital Light Processing (DLP) projectors to include Runco’s new, exclusive CineWide technology. This feature allows Runco projectors to utilize the full capability of their DMD chips, displaying movies formatted in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with increased resolution and brightness. Adding Cinewide to Runco’s existing package of acclaimed performance features continues the company’s tradition of excellence through cutting-edge engineering.

“At Runco, we continuously strive to develop breakthrough imaging technologies that give home theater enthusiasts a more cinema-like movie experience,” said Bob Hana, president of Runco International. “CineWide is one of our latest innovations that allows viewers to enjoy all of their favorite movies in breathtaking high-definition, even those filmed in the CinemaScope 2.35:1 aspect ratio. CineWide is a representation of our ongoing commitment to providing our dealers and their customers with a home theater video display that is unparalleled in both versatility and picture quality.”

Each Runco projector equipped with CineWide is upgraded not only in terms of a new lens option but in software, which is programmed to ensure uncompromised widescreen reproduction of movies originally filmed in the CinemaScope 2.35:1 format. Through a combination of electronics and anamorphic optics, each projector with CineWide is able to take advantage of every pixel on its DMD chips, thereby producing a 2.35 image with enhanced resolution and increased brightness. Regardless of the video source, projectors maximize clarity, color saturation and contrast of all source material. Each projector is also able to fully maintain all high-definition resolution or upgrade pictures to virtual high-definition for widescreen projection. Runco currently offers CineWide in the Reflection Series CL-710, and the Video Xtreme Series VX-1000d, VX-4000d, VX-5000d, VX-2c, VX-4c and VX-6c.
