The World’s Finest Home Theater Products Manufacturer Supports Special Enthusiast Event On-board Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Mariner of the Seas
Union City, California — November 22, 2004 — Runco International tested its sea legs the last week of October on-board Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Mariner of the Seas. The event was the 3rd Annual Home Theater Cruise, a unique event for which Runco International has been a platinum sponsor. The technology conference hosted over 350 home theater enthusiasts that enjoyed a Western Caribbean itinerary, and an up-close-and-personal opportunity to meet with the Runco management team. The cruise provided a relaxing atmosphere for all the attendees to experience the unique video display technology of the world’s finest home theater products manufacturer.
Pat Bradley with Runco International kicked off the week at sea with a panel discussion on “How to Choose a Display,” and introduced the gathered enthusiasts to the latest technologies pioneered by Runco. Sam Runco, founder and CEO of Runco International and always the raconteur, did not disappoint as he rallied the crowd with entertaining anecdotes and pledges of his personal commitment to the continued excellence of the Runco brand.
“There’s nothing like a captive audience, and you don’t get them any more captive than on-board a cruise ship,” mused Sam Runco. “But all kidding aside, this is a great event and one that serves so many purposes. It provides an opportunity to enjoy quality time with your family and friends in a very relaxing atmosphere, but most importantly it provides enthusiasts with an invaluable opportunity to learn more about their favorite technologies and brands. Unlike the usual trade event where people are always rushing off to the next booth or the next meeting, here our guests can all relax and learn about our products and culture.”
A day at sea proved to be much more than waiting time between buffet lines. The home theater demo rooms on-board the vessel were as popular as the rock-climbing walls. Runco International provided the Reflection Series CL-710 projector featuring the new GEN3 technology for all presentations. The CL-710’s technology makes more efficient use of optical light engine design and takes full advantage of Texas Instrument’s latest HD-2+ widescreen high definition DMD chip. It offers great versatility and extensive features to achieve outstanding image quality and operational ease.
At the Runco International sponsored cocktail party, the recently introduced VX-2c Projection System was displayed. With its 1280 x 720 native resolution 3-chip system, 16:9 native aspect ratio, and integrated LiveLink technology to preserve HD signals over long distances, it was clearly a hit with home theater fans.
Runco International is also a platinum sponsor of the Elf Foundation, a charity which brings the magic of music and film to Children’s Hospitals across the country. The farewell party of the Home Theater Cruise featured an exhilarating live auction to benefit the foundation. Sam Runco personally endorsed the charity’s mission with a memoir of how the foundation has made a difference in the lives of children and their families since its inception in 2001. He commented: “Nothing is more magical than a child’s laughter. Any one who doubts that should stop by a Room of Magic — a private entertainment theater in one of the children’s hospitals sponsored by Elf; the laughter from the kids will make a believer out of you. It did me.”
The Elf Foundation live auction aboard the Mariner of the Seas raised over $51,000 with the single-largest bid for the Runco VX-1000d DLP projector.
Runco International is the official platinum sponsor of The Home Theater Cruise 2005, which sets sail on October 29, 2005. For additional information please visit www.hometheatercruise.com.
