RTIs Waterproof Controller Adds New Depth to Home Entertainment Control

CHANHASSEN, MN — September 24, 2004 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI), the pioneer of home entertainment control technology, introduced a rugged new solution to controlling audio & video systems anywhere in the home. The new U1 Waterproof Controller is designed for reliable wireless control of audio/video systems from environments that are too harsh for normal remote controls. It is completely sealed, making it both waterproof and floating. Whether indoors or out, the U1 is the perfect control companion for homeowners who like to enjoy movies, music, and more from hot tubs, showers, pools, and decks. The U1 controller will be available to custom installers 1st quarter of 2005 (MSRP: $299.00) through the AVAD distribution network (www.avad.com).

“The U1 Waterproof Remote is a unique control solution that lets creative custom installers provide their customers the entertainment they want anywhere in or outside of the home,” said Pete Baker, director of sales and marketing for RTI. “Now homeowners can access video, distributed audio systems, custom lighting, and more in places normal remote controls could never go. The U1 performs perfectly even after complete submersion in water and simplifies users’ entertainment experience by easily integrating the function of their other remotes. It adds a new dimension of freedom to designing an outstanding home entertainment system.”

The U1 is designed to be used as an RF remote control with RTI central processors, making it more than just another remote control–it’s an expandable control system. When used with the available RTI accessory devices, the U1 is capable of power sensing for intelligent control, and RS-232 communications for advanced control. Its comfortable, ergonomic design allows effortless, one-handed operation while featuring just the right selection of buttons for stress-free audio/video system control. It features 4 source and 8 general purpose buttons, which are fully programmable and macro-assignable. The U1 comes ready for basic operation, but its 16-KB memory is easily programmed using RTI’s Windows-based TheaterTouch Designer software, the most rock-solid programming interface available. It lets installers use any PC to create, store, and drag and drop macros, IR codes, and bitmaps for reliable results every time. This makes the U1 completely customizable and upgradeable any time, and its non-volatile Flash memory maintains programming even if power is lost.
