New RTI Products at CEDIA EXPO 2009:
RTI is excited to demonstrate more products than ever at this year’s CEDIA EXPO. At booth 2123, RTI will unveil several new additions to its two-way compatible and ZigBee-enabled family of control devices, as well as many new and exciting solutions for professionally installed electronic systems. Among the existing line-up, RTI is pleased to announce that the U2 weather-resistant universal system controller is a contender for the CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles Manufacturer’s Excellence Award for Best New Product.
Two-Way Communication and Wireless ZigBee Integration
RTI will showcase its two-way compatible, professional-grade control solutions, which offer tight integration with third-party devices for intuitive control. Using cutting-edge RTI control processors, the latest version of the company’s Integration Designer programming software, and wireless ZigBee technology, RTI’s in-wall and handheld touch screen controllers integrate with not only A/V systems but also with lighting, HVAC, media servers, multiroom A/V, security, and other electronic systems in a home. ZigBee versions of the T2-C, T3-V, and T4 handheld system controllers connect to compatible RTI processors using the new ZM-24 Transceiver Module, while easy firmware updates add two-way functionality to several existing RTI devices including the XP-8 processor and the RK3 and K4 in-wall touch panels.
Two-Way Drivers Developed via RTI’s Integration Partner Program
Through the Integration Partner Program, RTI has teamed up with leading A/V manufacturers to supply two-way drivers for simple configuration through straightforward drag-and-drop programming. Available drivers currently include support for Escient media servers; Aprilaire thermostats; Lutron Homeworks/RadioRA and Vantage lighting controls; iPort iPod docks; DSC security devices; B&K multizone audio solutions; and Yamaha, Marantz, Denon, and Integra receivers, just to name a few — with many more in the works. Dealers can sign up for an RSS feed from the dealer area of the RTI Web site to be notified of upcoming releases.
Integration Designer Software 7.0 Release
RTI has launched the new 7.0 version of its Integration Designer software, available as an upgrade on the company’s Web site. Integration Designer is a powerful, easy-to-use, Windows-based software package that allows the entire RTI control system family to be programmed from any PC. The 7.0 version offers new enhancements to help integrators easily take advantage of the new two-way functionality.
RTI’s two-way enabled devices are available now.

PCM-8 Port Control Module
With eight multipurpose output ports and an adjustable device ID, the PCM-8 provides the flexibility and expandability to increase the output capabilities of certain RTI processors to accommodate larger projects. Each port provides IR routing capabilities, one-way RS-232 communication, and power sensing (with RTI accessory devices). Control from an RTI processor is communicated using the expansion RS-485 port, which allows the MPIO ports of the PCM-8 to become a seamless extension of the processor’s existing ports.
Available in September 2009, the PCM-8 will retail for $299.
