First Matrix Router with CAT-5e/6, Fiber Optic, DVI, HDMI, SDI and Display Port Interface Versatility
RTcom USA Inc., provider of digital connectivity solutions for professional and consumer audio-visual and personal computer systems, announces the innovation of its CAT 5e/6 and fiber optic slot cards, that allow video system integrators to support all digital video signal types through a single matrix switcher.
The slot cards are integrated with RTcom USA’s Expandable Digital Matrix Router — EDM-1818M. The EDM-1818M simultaneously supports multiple digital video formats without adding additional, expensive matrix switchers, each dedicated only to a single signal type. The EDM-1818M is a cost-effective matrix switcher for applications including:
- Home theater
- Conference room video
- Digital signage
The Expandable Digital Matrix Router supports digital formats including: Digital Video Interface (DVI), High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), Secure Digital Interface (SDI), Display Port, and now CAT 5e/6 and fiber optic outputs.
HDMI and DVI signals are received through input ports on the EDM-1818M and are output through either the fiber optic slot card, which is capable of sending the signal from a source to a display up to 1,000 meters away over a four-strand fiber optic cable — or through the CAT 5e/6 output slot card which has the ability to send signals from the source to the display up to 60 meters.
The EDM-1818M features a flexible back plane with slots for modular input/output cards, which allow prompt availability for any interface. The Expandable Matrix Router is user-configurable, so input/output cards may be replaced at any time after initial purchase.
“This innovative, cost-effective slot card solution will reduce system cost and complexity, versus other existing configurations, for both consumer and professional integration applications,” said Joon Ryu, president of RTcom USA. “The addition of CAT5e/6 and fiber optic compatibility of the EDM-1818M Expandable Matrix Router allows users the ease and flexibility of accessing all digital interfaces using one product.”
Among the Expandable Digital Matrix Router’s other features are:
- Several user interface options: RS-232C, LAN(TCP/IP) Control, and from the integrated touch panel
- HDCP compliant
- Conforms to DVI 1.0, HDMI Ver1.3a and DISPLAY PORT V1.1
- Built-in Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) read function, with Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM), to save display EDID data. The unit also supports non-VESA resolutions, including projectors with unique resolutions. This function is easy to set up by the user
- Built-in noise protection circuits in each input and output port
The Expandable Digital Matrix Router is available now at an MSRP of $39,999.00, fully equipped with input/output cards. Customers in U.S. can purchase the products through Aurora Multimedia at (732) 591-5800 or sales@auroramultimedia.com, and international customers can purchase them directly from RTcom USA, Inc. at (973) 383-4878 or rtcomusa@earthlink.net.
