2-in-1 Wireless Speaker
Roku just announced a simplified home entertainment solution that combines a TV sound bar and 4K media streamer called the Roku Streambar. Affordably priced at $129.99. Streambar works with any TV with a HDMI output, allowing for a one cable connection between TV and soundbar/streamer. For streaming shows, Streambar doesn’t skimp on video with support for 4K HDR picture quality on compatible 4K TVs.
Roku claims Streambar offers crisp, clean dialogue with sound that fills a room. As part of the Roku ecosystem it’s also compatible with Roku Wireless Subwoofer ($179) and Roku Wireless Speakers ($199) for surround sound. Setup is simple with everything in the box, including one voice remote that controls your TV, sound, and streaming.
Who is Streambar For?
Streambar is designed for people who don’t have a sound bar or Smart TV, or need to upgrade their current streaming to support 4K HDR. If you already own a Smart TV, then Streambar will duplicate many streaming options. The question becomes whether you like your TVs menus or Roku? For many the answer has been Roku. Streambar could also be helpful if you’re already a Roku customer and need a sound bar on a TV in a second room.
Voice Enabled
With built-in support for Amazon Alexa and/or Google Assistant devices, Streambar can be controlled with your voice. Siri, Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit capabilities are expected soon to accomplish similar voice interactions through iPhone or iPad.
