Following two years of development, Rockport Technologies has announced its latest entry into the ultra high-end loudspeaker category called the LYNX loudspeaker.
The Lynx is an example of Rockport’s emphasis on full-range loudspeakers that deliver extraordinary musical scale while maintaining a domestically friendly proportion, the LYNX is unrivaled in its ability to convey music’s grandeur from such a surprisingly compact enclosure.
With a ‘form follows function’ design emphasis approach, which incorporates distinctive and functional enclosure designs, the Rockport LYNX features a new DAMSTIF3 enclosure which is formed from a single, massive aluminum casting.
From Andrew Payor, Rockport’s founder and Director of Technology: “The LYNX is the first time we’ve been able to trickle down technology from our flagship LYRA to a loudspeaker that will fit comfortably in any home. As with the LYRA, the fundamental absence of enclosure induced noise has a profound effect on the LYNX’s musical presentation, yielding an incredibly low noise floor, unmatched dynamic contrasts, and astonishing low-level information retrieval…Like the LYRA, the LYNX’s new DAMSTIF3 enclosure has no joinery, no fasteners, and simultaneously achieves the multiple goals of maximum damping, stiffness, and mass.”
As a successor to Rockport LYRA, the drive units incorporated in the LYNX include a custom 10 inch, carbon fiber sandwich cone woofer, a 6-inch carbon fiber sandwich cone midrange, and a 1-inch waveguide-loaded beryllium tweeter.
The Lynx’s driver array is designed to deliver an authoritative, first-octave bass response with abundant headroom and agility, a transparent midrange, which brings out densely saturated tonal colors and texture, with a crystalline pure, dynamically realistic high-frequency register.
Tech Note: The Lynx also incorporates a rear-mounted port to provide additional bass support.
The LYNX’s visual impact is the result of its tailored design. Delivering quality sound across all musical genres, the LYNX opens the door to the wide world of recorded music.
