RBH Sound has introduced what it claims is the fastest installing in-ceiling speaker in the world. Designed for jobs and installations requiring large quantities of in-ceiling speakers, RBH's new QM-615 boasts an installation time of less than four seconds.
RBH basically took the “guts” of their ultra popular A-615 in-ceiling speaker and placed them into a new, modern frame and baffle design employing the company's quick-cam technology. The four quick-cam mechanisms on the speaker come pre-loaded or “cocked”, ready for installation. Included with each QM-615 is a pocket-sized, dual-purpose installation tool which eliminates the need for typical bulky and heavy drill-drivers or similar installation tools. Using the rounded end of the tool, installation is as quick and easy as pushing four recessed triggers located around the speaker's baffle. Each trigger releases one quick-cam mechanism, quickly and securely locking the QM-615 in place. Since the QM-615 can be installed so quickly, the time savings can really add up, allowing RBH dealers to make more money on each job. Removing the QM-615 is as simple as inserting the hex key end of the installation tool in each trigger location and rotating the wrench less than a full turn counter-clockwise, thereby resetting the quick-cam. In the event the installation tool is ever lost, a standard hex key (Allen Wrench) can be used to easily remove the speaker.
The QM-615 features a 6.5-inch diameter PolyGraphite cone woofer for strong bass and smooth midrange, and a 1-inch nano-silk dome swivel tweeter for crystal clarity. High frequency information from the QM-615's tweeter can be directed towards the listening position, and an integrated sound contour switch, conveniently located on the face of the speaker, allows the output level of the tweeter to be adjusted to one of three settings: -3dB/0dB/+3dB for optimal performance regardless of position or decor.
Perhaps the most attractive in-ceiling speaker in RBH's lineup, the QM-615 features a modern design enhanced by a paintable, micro-perforated grille which covers all but the last 5mm of the speaker's paintable frame. This thin-edge design allows the speaker to be practically hidden in the ceiling.
The QM-615 has a frequency response of 55Hz – 20kHz ±3dB, can handle up to 80 Watts of power and has a suggested retail price of $249/pair (available now).
