PureDepth, Inc., (OTCBB:DMDO), a world-leading developer of display technologies and the developer of Multi-Layer Display (MLD) technology, today introduced the world’s first 30-inch wide MLD screen module with a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels, further expanding the range of options for MLD technology. This technology was introduced by DRS Technologies, Inc. at the U.S. Navy League Sea-Air-Space Exposition in Washington, D.C. last week. DRS, a leading supplier of integrated products, services and support to military forces, intelligence agencies and prime contractors, holds a license agreement with PureDepth to market and supply advanced display systems to U.S. Army and Navy customers.
“As NASA technologies led to breakthroughs in CAT scans and MRI processes, we believe our MLD technology will have far reaching uses from location-based gaming in casinos to new form factors for wide-screen televisions,” states Fred Angelopoulos, CEO for PureDepth. “Our MLD technologies span the spectrum from mobile phones to large screen formats. We were pleased that DRS, as it has done with many other innovative technologies, introduced our wide-screen MLD technology to the defense and aerospace industry.”
Richard S. Danforth, president of DRS’s command, control and communications (C3) business unit, “As the first-to-market with PureDepth’s 30-inch MLD display, we demonstrated our commitment to bring innovative technology to our customers and provide them with the ability to be productive, even in the most stressful situations. With this product, users can visually synthesize critical, real-time information from separate feeds of data at the same time in a single display device with multi-dimensional alerting. We consider this a significant technology advantage for command and control organizations that track time-sensitive information 24/7. In addition, the ability to feed both secure and non-secure data into the same display device will help eliminate certain security risks.”
PureDepth MLD technology is an LCD layered, multi-dimensional (using real depth between two (2) LCD panels) viewing innovation that enables users to simultaneously view two separate fields of data. By overlaying two or more separate image planes within a single monitor, MLD provides true depth of vision that significantly enhances the visual experience with faster response to time critical data.
Independent research from Dr. William Wong from Middlesex University in London has shown an MLD application can increase response time by up to 4.5 seconds. The results of this research have important implications for users who receive critical, time-sensitive information where a desired outcome relies on increased responsiveness.
