NEW REALCOLOR TECHNOLOGY CREATES A HIGHER STANDARD FOR DLP PROJECTORS

— A revolutionary development in color reproduction that allows any projector to be properly white balanced and optimized for the viewing environment —

Ridgefield, NJ — At CES 2006, projectiondesign, the leading manufacturer of advanced professional and consumer projectors for business, eCinema and home cinema, today announced their proprietary RealColor technology creating a higher standard in simple and accurate color management systems in all projectors.

Projectiondesign’s RealColor color management system begins with a simple two-step calibration process in the factory by which every projector is accurately characterized before it is shipped. The RealColor color management technology then allows the user/installer to correctly calibrate and set up a projector onsite, to a desired white point and grey scale tracking with a minimum amount of effort. Simply selecting and setting the desired color management mode and display characteristics, the RealColor management system automatically adjusts a perfectly grey scale track throughout the dynamic range; resulting is perfect video color reproduction.

Gary Plavin, projectiondesign President, shared: “The RealColor color management technology provides easy in-field projector calibration and set up that can’t be compared to any other projector product on the market today. We believe the results are clearly visible.”

Throughout the characterization and calibration process, each individual projector’s optical and electrical characteristics are measured, recorded and stored using highly accurate X and Y color coordinates. By storing each unit’s settings, every projector knows it’s true optical red, green and blue, as well as the optical white points.

Projectiondesign’s image processor calculates correct grey scale tracking from white through black, by interpolating the desired settings from the white point all the way down to black. Grey scale will carry the same color through all shades of grey, and linearly follow the desired setting.

Projectiondesign’s first model to include RealColor color management technology is their new Action! model two — Shipping in January 2006. All future new models will include the revolutionary new system.
