Viewers can play along with studio contestants using red button
‘The Price is Right’ is back on ITV and is as popular as ever! But for the first time, digital satellite viewers can play along at home using the red button on their remote. The new interactive application allows the viewer at home to play the same variety of games as the studio contestant.
The show format for home viewers includes 23 different mini games and each episode will include a different mix of seven of the 23 games. Games include “Showcase Showdown”, “Plinko” and “Contestants Row”, where bonus points are awarded to the player at home for beating the studio contestants.
Fiona Robertson, Head of Commissioning, Online, Interactive and Mobile, said: “This is exactly the kind of next-generation interactivity that we are building into all of our high-profile programming. ‘The Price is Right’ application combines one of the UK’s favourite gameshows with the involvement of those at home. We’re really excited about seeing how people will interact.”
‘The Price Is Right’ is produced for ITV by talkbackTHAMES, the UK production company owned by FremantleMedia. The interactive application was produced in collaboration with emuse absolutely, the Irish interactive services company and FremantleMedia, licensor of ‘The Price Is Right’ and one of the largest creators and producers of programme brands in the world.
“We are thrilled to be leading and deploying innovations in interactive content on such a well-loved show” says Patrick Rainsford, CEO emuse. “The exciting thing for emuse is to do this on a show with such a strong format and long-standing brand.”
Toby Prosser, Creative Director for FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide, the licensing division of FremantleMedia, said “The biggest challenge for a play-along for ‘The Price is Right’ is to match the home player’s experience to what’s happening on-screen. emuse has done a great job of doing exactly that – through a combination of really accurate recreations of ‘The Price Is Right’s’ game play and a great looking design.”
