Pioneer just introduced the SW-10 Powered Subwoofer, available now for $349. It can be used to complement any home theater speaker system, but is specifically designed to match Pioneer’s SP-FS52 Floor-standing Loudspeaker, SP-BS22-LR Bookshelf Loudspeakers (pair), and SP-C22 Center-Channel Speakers. It provides a deeper bass alternative to the SW-8MK2 Powered Subwoofer (the smaller sub in the photo).
The 30 lbs SW-10 subwoofer is designed to reproduce the room filling, deep and powerful bass that is essential for conveying the weight and realism found in dynamic music and soundtracks. It is encased in a vented and stylish enclosure to improve transient response, the key to the powerful sound of the SW-10 is a dedicated, BASH high-voltage amplifier delivering 200 Watts RMS of pure power. The SW-10 has a frequency range between 30 Hz – 150 Hz with a maximum output power of 400W at its peak. Controls for phase and crossover adjustment are a snap, so listeners enjoy bass that’s deep, satisfying and accurate after integrating into your main system.
With a wide rubber surround rather than a more cost-effective foam surround, Pioneer achieves far better excursion of the cone, the result of which is a greater bass response in a smaller cabinet. Rubber also doesn’t degrade over time like foam so the SW-10’s bass driver will provide consistent bass response over a greater amount of time.
