If Magico thought they were going to be the only U.S. loudspeaker brand to unveil a new reference quality product at High-End Munich 2023 — those hopes have been dashed with the unveiling of the new Perlisten S7t Limited Edition Loudspeakers that are actually more affordable than the new S3 by almost $15,000 USD.
For those even contemplating the purchase of loudspeakers in the $30,000 to $45,000 range — the price difference might not mean anything but that’s still a rather significant difference in price between two loudspeakers that we would consider state-of-the-art.
We covered the launch of Perlisten Audio in 2021 and waited with bated breath for their actual availability in the United States and Canada. While certainly not inexpensive, the technology behind this very impressive new loudspeaker company merits some serious attention.
The Perlisten speaker brand has already made a positive impact on serious music listeners and home theater fans with its excellent standalone loudspeakers and subwoofers.
Now, a mere two years after the launch of the iconic S7t and the full S-Series, the PERLISTEN engineering team takes another giant step forward in sonic excellence.
The world premiere takes place at the High End Munich 2023 and can be experienced at Audio Reference booth Atrium 3.1 room D111.
The suggested retail price is $30,000 (per pair) for the S7t Limited Edition. The all-new S7t Limited Edition will be engineered at PERLISTEN’s headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin, USA.
We assume that they will also be manufactured in the same facility but that may not be the case.
Perlisten have updated the woofers to increase linear excursion, lowered inductance and increased low frequency capability. The DPC-Array, while maintaining the existing drive units and pattern control is also different; All 3 transducers have been coupled to a massive aluminum heatsink in the new design.
The S7t Limited Edition also features an updated crossover that features components that are hand-matched and measured to much stricter tolerances.
Thin Ply Carbon Diaphragm
The (TPCD) TexTreme carbon fiber used in our midrange drive units is also the key to the performance of our woofers, resulting in lighter-than-air dynamics and the impact you expect in a flagship Speaker that can play down to 20Hz in-room.
This technology is 30% lighter than standard carbon fiber of the same thickness, with increased strength from using the unique process of stacking multiple layers. The unique weave is unmistakable and distributes break-up modes without sharp response peaks, while extending bandwidth.
IsoAcoustics Isolation
Working with the Engineers at IsoAcoustics, leveraged from their patented technology, Perlisten have developed a custom PERLISTEN isolation/damping system only available on the S7t-Limited. This provides a high degree of isolation while resisting lateral movement and oscillations to maintain alignment with the listening position.
Internal reflections from the hard-supporting surface are attenuated resulting in greater sound clarity and openness. Furthermore, the massive 18 kg machined steel base keeps the speaker cabinet grounded.
PERLISTEN CSO Lars Johansen explained that “The S7t Limited Edition represents something extraordinary, introducing new dimensions to our global presence within the audio industry. Each individual component has been optimized and the enclosures have been updated with radiused Carbon Fiber over HDF side panels. Simply stated, the Limited Edition stands as our masterpiece, bringing new kudos to the PERLISTEN team.”
