UPPER SADDLE RIVER, NJ (11/7/05) — Onkyo USA has announced that its current DS-A1 Remote Interactive (RI) dock is compatible with Apple’s newest iPod models, the iPod with video and the iPod Nano, as well as previous iPod models. The DS-A1 Remote Interactive Dock not only acts as an audio and video interface between the iPod and Onkyo receivers, it acts as a battery charger for the device and enables users to operate key iPod control functions using the receiver’s remote control.
Onkyo has also developed a new adapter insert to accommodate the smaller dimension of the iPod Nano. This adapter will ship with all new DS-A1 units, and individual adapters will be made available to all current owners of the DS-A1 at a nominal cost to cover shipping and handling charges. Details on obtaining iPod Nano adapters will be available on Onkyo’s consumer website, www.onkyousa.com.
When used with any iPod model in audio mode, the Onkyo DS-A1 dock and charging unit allows the receiver’s remote control to be used for basic functions such as Play, Stop, Pause, Next Song, and Previous Song. Onkyo devices and remotes with enhanced DS-A1 compatibility can also control advanced functions such Shuffle, Repeat, Playlist up/down, Album up/down, Auto power on, Standby and Backlight. When using the new 30GB and 60 GB iPod with video models in their video playback mode, the DS-A1 S-video output can be used to show video material on home display devices, but the iPod manual controls must be used to control video functions. iPod with video audio-mode controls function as with all other iPod models.
The DS-A1 RI dock and charger is also compatible with all third and fourth generation iPods, iPod photos, and iPod minis. RI remote controlled components from Onkyo include nearly every audio and home theater receiver, processor, package systems, and all-in-one component systems the company has introduced in the past 10 years.
The Onkyo DS-A1 Remote Interactive dock for iPod features an attractive white finish to match most iPod models, and includes all the connection and cabling necessary for operation. It is currently available at a suggested retail price of $100.
