Onkyo today introduced a new family of products for Apple portable devices, called iOnly. The first product will be the iOnly Play (ABX-100) speaker dock designed specifically for iPod and iPhone. The second model will be the iOnly Bass (ABX-N300), which will also accommodate the iPad. The iOnly Stream (SBX-300) will follow later this year.
The iOnly Play is ideal for use on a shelf, table or desk-top in the home, dorm room, or office. With its flat-back exterior, brushed-aluminium base and cover, and dimmable foot lighting, the iOnly Play makes a tasteful addition to any room. The sliding cover also conceals and protects an easy-to-read graphical LCD display and touch-screen control buttons. Activate it and the three-mode underside illumination makes it look all the more distinctive.
Slide open the cover and an LCD display that shows song information gently glows back at you. Functions are selected via touch sensors burried in the top panel.
Designed to be compatible with a wide range of iPod/iPhone models the Play offers proper tone controls as well as an Active Bass function that makes automatic real-time adjustments to low bass frequencies when listening at low volume levels.
Twin 6cm, full-range bass reflex speakers deliver an uncommonly communicative sound quality, in concert with an Onkyo-engineered power amplifier. There’s a 3.5mm aux in socket for other components and the programmable timers and snooze/sleep functions make it a perfect bedside partner.
The iOnly Play include a wireless remote control. Power consumption in standby mode is just 0.1w. See more specifications in this data sheet (pdf).
