Okoro Media Systems or OMS has certainly found a niche when it comes to Home Theater PCs. The company was started less than 2 years ago and is already converting skeptics of the HTPCs and bringing this technology to the high-end audio and video enthusiast.
The OMS-TH550 HTPC was reviewed by Dennis Burger in this months Home Entertainment Magazine (July/August 2005 edition). In an article entitled “Rise of the Machines”, the TH550 was given some of his highest praises when comparing the OMS-HTPC to other Media Center PCs. He shares his experiences with setup, support, and quality from each vendor. At the conclusion of the article, the previously skeptical Mr. Burger stated “…I have to admit that I am a convert…after spending some time with Okoro’s OMS-TH500s system, I can see that WMC (Windows Media Center) is the future of home theater.”
The OMS HTPC can be used for gaming or double as a regular desktop computer, but each system is designed with the home theater enthusiast in mind. OMS dedicates considerable research and development fueled by customer feedback to select components that will provide the ultimate home theater experience. The goal is to deliver a quality system that is powerful, yet does not mar the experience with machine noise. Therefore, every fan, video card, hard drive and motherboard, is custom configured to achieve this goal. OMS prides itself on its elegant, cases that can blend inconspicuously in any living room, den, or other area of the home or office carved out for home theater enjoyment.
Customers can choose from various product lines. Each line comes with standard configurations and components beyond what is offered by most competitors. Customers also have a choice of three HTPC software packages, Meedio Essentials with SageTV, Windows Media Center, or SnapStream’s Media Center Suite. Additionally customers have the option to upgrade their hardware in the future.
Okoro Media Systems is positioning itself to be the industry leader as it seeks to bring HTPCs to the high-end Home Theater market.
