New Action! M30 1080 Adds 10-Bit Processing to BrilliantColor For Even More Home Improvements

Ridgefield, NJ (August 28, 2007) — projectiondesign, leading manufacturer of advanced professional and consumer DLP projectors for residential home theater, business and eCinema, has now combined their new 10-bit dnx processing with Texas Instruments BrilliantColor application to yield a new Action! M30 1080 projector that raises the bar for home theaters everywhere. The announcement comes just in time for the upcoming CEDIA EXPO 2007 in Denver, CO.

“It’s the best improvement in home entertainment,” states projectiondesign CEO Jorn Eriksen as the company unveils the new unit. “The M30 benefits from the 10-bit resolution electronics we’re building into all our projectors — and that includes additional High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) 1.3 inputs. In our M30, HDMI 1.3 video gives users more bandwidth, increased refresh rates, and support both for color depths of up to 16 bits and the new xvYCC color space”

Supporting xvYCC the projectiondesign way
The M30 will be compatible with the “xvYCC” color range, the international standard for wide color space in video applications now available thanks to newly developed high-resolution signal processing. Projectors complying with this standard will be able to reproduce visual images in virtually the same picture quality as they were recorded.

BrilliantColor proven in projectiondesign applications
Every lamp-based projection system (including the Texas Instruments DLP system) splits light into primary colors (red, green and blue) before processing the image, and combines the correct combination of the three colors to create the final projection on the wall. Usually in this process, energy is lost because of the optical filtering.

BrilliantColor solves this problem. The technology maximizes the energy by using additional color filters. In addition to normal R, G and B filters, BrilliantColor can add Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow filters. Adding these filters dramatically improves the display of hard-to-reproduce cyans, magentas and yellows, colors that exist in nature.

Gary Plavin, projectiondesign North America president, says: “Combining the Texas Instruments BrilliantColor technology with 10-bit resolution electronics brings much more capability into the home — it’s a major advantage for residential theaters.” The Action! M30 is fully networkable and Crestron/AMX-compatible.

The new Action! M30 1080 continues to us the patented projectiondesign DuArch illumination architecture featuring dual lamps, dual 7-segment color wheels and light formatters. It delivers full-resolution, lifelike images with an enhanced level of cinematic realism and depth over any DLP projector available. It is the first true HD single chip DLP front projector, using the 0.95″ 1080p DC3 DMD technology from Texas Instruments to show true, native, uncompressed, 1920-x 1080p resolution HDTV like no other projector.

The Action! M30 1080 provides infinite adjustable output brightness. Each lamp’s power is individually adjustable, giving exceptional control of on-screen brightness from 500 to 2500 ANSI Lumens, enough for even the largest screens. Action! M30 options include a superior set of tools for adjusting the image to specific applications. Its unique optical design, its extreme level of horizontal and vertical lens shifting and a choice of up to six bayonet-mount lenses provide the ultimate in installation flexibility and user adaptability.
