Austin, TX — February 24, 2005 — NetStreams, the leader in IP-based Networked Audio/Video distribution, announced a groundbreaking expansion of the capabilities of its DigiLinX IP-Based Multi-Room Audio system. Users of the whole-house entertainment network can now experience new home security functions through DigiLinX, thanks to seamless compatibility with Panasonic’s models of IP-based home security cameras. Each camera can be connected to the DigiLinX system to display video on the TouchLinX (TL380) in-wall control panels, letting homeowners view video feeds from cameras installed anywhere in a home or office. The new integration option underlines NetStreams’ commitment to providing custom home technology installers with a highly flexible solution for multi-room entertainment and home management.
“DigiLinX’s expandable architecture lets us respond very quickly to installer’s needs, giving them access to any of the virtually unlimited functions that IP products can provide,” said Herman Cardenas, founder and CEO of NetStreams. “The ability to integrate Panasonic’s IP-based security cameras is one example of DigiLinX’s unprecedented flexibility, which will continue to be proven with the release of more and more IP-based entertainment and communications products. And since both NetStreams and Panasonic are supported by AVAD’s nationwide distribution network, custom installers can conveniently get both products in one place as a complete system.”
“Panasonic is excited about how easy it is to take advantage of our remote monitoring cameras when combined with the NetStreams DigiLinX system,” said Michael Timar, Panasonic national marketing manager of IP Products. “The speed and ease with which both products can be integrated in whole-house networks gives users a new level of convenience and security, which provides new sales opportunities for Panasonic.”
NetStreams’ latest DigiLinX firmware supports plug-and-play integration with several models of Panasonic IP-based security cameras: the KX-HCM10, KX-HCM230, KX-HCM250, KX-HCM270 and the KX-HCM280. Installers simply connect the cameras to the SwitchLinX high-speed Ethernet switch, then complete a short programming sequence to allow users to view camera feeds on any TouchLinX TL380 in-wall LCD touch screen in the system.
Feeds from up to 4 of Panasonic’s IP-compatible cameras can be viewed simultaneously on one TouchLinX screen, and users can pan, zoom, and alternate between full- and split-screen. The programming required to integrate the Panasonic cameras with a DigiLinX system is comparable to that of a learning remote control.
DigiLinX: The First IP-based Networked Audio/Video Distribution System
DigiLinX uses NetStreams’ patent pending StreamNet technology to distribute audio over CAT5e using TCP/IP on an Ethernet network. DigiLinX converts audio from legacy sources (Tuner, CD Player, other) in real-time, to uncompressed audio streams, allowing up to 24-bit, studio-quality audio to be distributed throughout a home or commercial facility. StreamNet automatically solves the synchronization of an audio source to multiple rooms over a TCP/IP network, a function that no other system has been able to provide. By taking advantage of today’s cutting-edge computer networking technology, DigiLinX can give users access to literally millions of sources in an infinite number of rooms or zones.
