All-Digital, High-Definition, Networked Set-Top Box for Cable Operators
Expanding on Motorola, Inc.’s industry-leading set-top portfolio, Motorola’s Home & Networks Mobility business introduced the addition of the DCX700 all-digital, high-definition (HD) set-top to the DCX product line. This new low-profile design will help cable operators’ successful migration to an all-digital network while accelerating the delivery of personal media experiences and multi-room-DVR (MR-DVR) capabilities.
“As always, Motorola’s innovation is driven by the evolving needs of our customers, and this new digital set-top is no exception. Operators will now have devices that meet their lower capital expenditure needs at initial deployment, with the advantage of flexible feature sets that can be expanded without hardware replacement as consumer demand shifts toward more advanced services,” said Larry Robinson, vice president and general manager, America’s Digital STB, Motorola Home & Networks Mobility.
The Motorola DCX700’s small, streamlined profile allows for a space-saving wall-mounted installation. It is a cost-effective set-top with a single 1 GHz tuner that supports both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC services. The all-digital DCX700 also includes the latest audio and video output, including HDMI and Dolby Digital Plus. When configured with the optional MoCA home networking interface, the DCX700-M is MR-DVR capable and serves as a multimedia client for accessing content from other compatible devices in the home.
The DCX700 will support either CableCARD conditional access or embedded MediaCipher conditional access.
Motorola is showcasing the DCX700 all-digital, HD set-top at the 2009 SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, October 28 – 30 in Denver, Colorado–Colorado Convention Center, Motorola booth # 4116.
