Lebron James Inspired In-Ear Headphones Designed for Sports and Active Lifestyles

Beats by Dr. Dre and Monster® announced they have teamed up with 2010 NBA MVP LeBron James of the Miami Heat to develop a groundbreaking new performance sports headphone — “PowerBeats by Dr. Dre.” The stylish and ultra durable headphones combine the unprecedented sound quality of Beats by Dr. Dre with innovative new technologies and design elements making them ideal for use by sports enthusiasts, athletes and anyone who wants to bring a superior music listening experience to his or her active lifestyle.

Secure Fit Even While Exercising, Optimum Sound in Any Environment
PowerBeats are designed to provide wearers with an unprecedented level of headphone audio performance with extreme clarity, deep bass and full power that had been lacking in conventional headphones. Among the new active lifestyle-friendly design elements in PowerBeats is an adjustable/bendable ear hook with a flexible arm that runs around the outside of the ear to keep the headphones securely in place during vigorous activities such as exercising, jogging, biking, or even competitive basketball. To ensure optimum sound quality, PowerBeats feature an exclusive new dual driver design that features two unique speakers, a subwoofer and a midrange tweeter, delivering the full spectrum of sound while still allowing users to hear outside noises when necessary. Additionally, the non-noise occluding headphone eartip is ported so listeners can enjoy their music while still being aware of peripheral sounds that deserve their attention, such as the sirens of emergency vehicles, phone calls or other audio cues.

Price and Availability
PowerBeats will be available in Best Buy stores in mid-October for $169.95 in a choice of black, red and white styles.

The launch of PowerBeats further expands the Beats by Dr. Dre product line and is the culmination of a year-long design collaboration between Dre, Iovine, James and Monster. Together they created unique headphones that stand up to the mobility and endurance demands of professional athletes and sports enthusiasts while delivering the unsurpassed sound quality of the Beats by Dr. Dre brand.

“We started Beats with a mission to repair sound so that people who love music can hear it the way artists and producers intended it be heard. Athletes in particular have embraced our concept of style and sound and have evangelized our brand. We are proud to offer the world's first headphone designed by a professional athlete — and not just any athlete, but one of the elite performers in all of sports, LeBron James.”

“Music has always been an important part of my life and a crucial element of my training regime. It helps me achieve a higher level of focus that ultimately helps me win. I needed a headphone that would fit securely while working out, but it had to have the best sound quality. I know my friends and fellow professional athletes will love PowerBeats as much as I do.”
— Lebron James

“We worked with LeBron to make sure these would be the ultimate headphones for athletes. I'm always about the performance, the sound, and LeBron brought what he needed in terms of function to the table. I've been wearing the prototype for PowerBeats in the gym every day for the last few months so I can honestly say they're the best headphones for working out.”
— Dr. Dre

“Dre, Jimmy and LeBron challenged us to come up with a new type of listening solution for athletes and sports enthusiasts. Because existing designs and technologies simply were not up to this task, we came up with several key innovations, like the audio-enhancing dual driver, the ported eartip enclosure and the traversable arm for super secure fit. The result is a new type of headphone that literally 'gives as good as it gets' — and one that will be welcomed by active music lovers everywhere.”
