Mitsubishi WD620U and FD630U DLP Projectors

4,000 Lumens DLP Projectors in Full HD or WXGA Versions

Mitsubishi just expanded its high-brightness projector line-up with two new portable HD projectors that weigh approximately eight pounds each and blast 4,000 lumens. Joining the family is the WD620U, a new wide-format WXGA / 720p resolution projector and the FD630U 1080p full high-definition resolution projector.

These two HD projectors offer amazing image quality, easy mobility and a low cost of ownership, including a filter-free design and a remarkably long-life lamp estimated to last up to 5000 hours.

“Those who have seen our XD600U all-glass lens projector seem to love it and are very impressed with its performance,” said Wayne Kozuki, product manager, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America. “Now we’re offering even more choices for higher resolution in this family of premium portable projectors.”

The WD620U and FD630U are designed for both education users as well as business professionals, complementing higher resolution laptop or desktop computers. Each projector offers a 10-watt speaker and audio mix capability, closed captioning decoder, a visual public addressing (PA) feature, user-friendly menus, and an all-glass lens for sharper, crisper displays. This combination of audio-visual features can help make presenting and teaching more effective thanks to technology that is easy to set up and use.

These new projectors include a built-in RJ-45 port for remote operation and management over a LAN, WAN or the Internet. The status of multiple projectors, remote operation of the on/off power switch, image input switch and other functions can be monitored with Mitsubishi’s ProjectorView Global+ technology.

Thanks to the projectors’ simultaneous real-time message display and the new visual PA feature, an administrator can remotely create and distribute messages in real time to projectors connected to the LAN. This is ideal for broadcasting important information to multiple rooms across campus and can be useful as part of an emergency management system.

A top-loading lamp design allows users to replace lamps simply and easily, whether the projector is mounted in the ceiling or sitting on a desktop. The new projectors include dual 15-pin computer inputs as well as S-video and RCA video inputs. They also come with a HDMI™ input for digital sources so users can switch between a computer presentation and video with just the press of a button.

Mitsubishi’s new HD projectors are designed with two separate 3.5mm audio inputs and two RCA audio inputs as well as a 3.5mm variable audio output used to control volume levels. They also have a special built-in audio mixer so the projectors can simultaneously project audio from two sources, such as a DVD and a wireless microphone. With this “Audio Mix” feature, users can adjust the volume levels of each input for its built-in speaker. With the projectors in this configuration, an instructor or presenter can orally interject key points during a presentation and be heard over the video.

When the speaker is not in use, the projectors have an ultra-hushed noise level of only 29 dBA in low mode; students hear an instructor and not the annoying hum of a fan. They also offer closed captioning from a supported source. With the touch of a button, the built-in decoder transforms words into subtitles projected on the screen, an important function for hearing-impaired students.

To lessen the impact on the environment, Mitsubishi has engineered energy-efficient, earth-friendly features into all of its new projector models. Its projectors are built with lead-free solder, consume less than one watt of power when in low standby mode, are paint-free and packed in cartons made from recycled materials.

The WD620U and FD630U HD projectors, which use Texas Instruments’ DLP technology, boast a native 2000:1 contrast ratio for darker blacks and continue Mitsubishi’s commitment to filter-free technology with its semi-sealed design that helps decrease dust accumulation. The projectors also feature a five-segment color wheel with BrilliantColor technology to create clear, vivid images from a computer or video signal.

Mitsubishi’s new projectors have important security features with password menu and display locks, plus an anti-theft hook design to lock the projector in place and help deter theft. They have an RS232 connection for compatibility with third-party control devices and support for a computer loop-out for external monitor display.

These new models include keystone support for easy, automated picture adjustments, and their instant shut off feature allows users to power down the projectors quickly without damage. This enables a quick exit after class or a meeting for more efficient scheduling of classrooms and conference rooms.

“Mitsubishi continues to broaden the choice for our end users and systems integrators,” said James Chan, senior director, product marketing, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division. “We’re confident that with the addition of these HD projectors to our 600 family series, Mitsubishi will continue to give users state-of-the-art products for more advanced applications.”

Pricing, Availability, Warranty
Mitsubishi offers government, education and non-profit discount pricing for its projectors through its network of authorized Mitsubishi dealers. The projectors are targeted for availability during the first-quarter of 2010 and come with Mitsubishi’s three-year limited warranty on parts and labor plus a one-year limited warranty on the lamp. These projectors are also covered by Mitsubishi’s award-winning three-year Express Replacement Assistance (ERA) Program, a nationwide comprehensive service provided for units under warranty that offers next business-day replacement for down units.
