Metra Introduces Products for 2007 International CES

HOLLY HILL, FLA., JANUARY 9, 2007: Metra Electronics is introducing products across all of its brands at Booth 3406, 2007 International CES.

A prime-source manufacturer of mobile electronics accessories based in Holly Hill, Fla., Metra is enhancing every brand with products that anticipate as well as meet the needs of today’s technologically advanced vehicles and consumers who demand all-around excellence in features, performance and design.

The company’s high-end Tsunami brand of mobile A/V accessories gains capacitors, distribution blocks, speaker wires and amp kits, plus a new line that includes capacitors, RCA cables, fused distribution blocks and speaker grilles.

Metra’s popular Monkey Video brand debuts a wide selection of mobile video products for use in any application. In-dash DVD players, headrest screens, visor screens and flip-down monitors will provide consumers with even more choices for quality mobile theater experiences and aesthetically pleasing installations.

Axxess Digital Interfaces will feature its revolutionary HD Radio package, which upgrades a factory head unit to HD Radio. The first tuner package designed to work with a factory radio, it consists of a universal HD Radio tuner box and interface specific for each vehicle class.

Once installed, the package enables the factory radio to receive the enhanced digital HD radio audio standard — which brings CD-quality sound to FM stations, and rich FM-quality sound to AM stations.

HD Radio also provides participating radio stations with multicasting capabilities that allow additional programming streams, which result in expanded programming choices for listeners without the monthly fee of satellite radio services. The Axxess HD Radio package enables HD Radio’s wireless data feature to broadcast text information — titles, artists, weather or traffic alerts — directly to the receiver’s display screen (if factory head unit has text display capability).

Axxess will also showcase its line of auxiliary input devices designed to feed audio from a portable digital audio source — such as an iPod, CD or DVD player — directly to a vehicle’s existing head unit for a high-quality listening experience without using an FM modulator. The line consists of 40 SKUs to accommodate the greatest number of applications and portable devices.

Depending upon the specific vehicle and portable source, the auxiliary input device may incorporate electronics, plug specifically into an iPod for connection to the head unit, or include an RCA plug and/or a 3.5mm stereo jack. Some SKUs will also have a 3.5mm output.

Metra’s dash kits include about 40 new SKUs to accommodate new applications. Designed for installation ease while providing a secure, solid fit, each kit is contoured and textured for a seamless match with the factory dash. Many include such extras as a built-in oversized storage pocket.
