Master & Dynamic has introduced a new headphone that looks a lot like their first headphone, the MH40. The original MH40 headphone was a wired model introduced in 2014, which was followed by a wireless model in 2019 which kept the same design.
Today, Master & Dynamic is introducing its second generation MH40 Wireless Over-Ear Headphone for $399 that keeps the brand’s iconic style. It claims to offer more expansive sound from new 40mm titanium drivers, longer battery life, enhanced microphone performance, and customizable sounds within the M&D Connect app.
Battery life on the new MH40 is said to increase from 18 hours to 30 hours on a single charge. Bluetooth connectivity has also been updated from version 5.0 to 5.2, along with the addition of aptX Adaptive claiming support up to 24-bit/96kHz. Oddly, noise cancellation is not included.
Until we get these in for review it’s too early to tell where the new MH40 will place among our picks for best wireless headphones. The $400 price category has become quite competitive in recent years and most models include noise cancellation at this price point. Recently Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 took home the top honors at the Value Electronics Headphone Shootout in the $349 to $399 category.
Upgrade pick: If your budget stretches to $599, consider the Master & Dynamic MW75 Wireless Headphone which adds noise-cancelling while maintaining a similar style.
