Marantz today introduced the audiophile-grade SA8005 super-audio compact-disc (SACD) player, which features faster, low-noise and lower impedance symmetrical circuits with high-quality components, over the SA8004 SACD player. The loading mechanism virtually eliminates resonance, while its reduced distortion spectrum gets the very best audio quality from SACDs.
Besides being a top-class SACD player, the SA8005 also functions as a standalone digital-to-analog convertor (DAC), using the Cirrus Logic CS4398 chip. The unit has optical and coaxial digital input for various digital sources, a USB-A input on the front panel for popular portable devices, as well as an asynchronous USB-B input for direct connection to a PC. The asynchronous USB-B input supports decoding and playback of high resolution audio DSD 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz formats and features a newly developed ground/signal isolator technology which virtually eliminates PC noise.
The rugged chassis features a dual layer bottom plate for high rigidity and freedom from vibration-induced distortion, and the center mounted disc drive features its own isolated sub-chassis that provides further vibration protection. The front panel USB-A port lets you connect your favorite portable audio device, and is compatible with iPod, iPod touch and iPhone sources. The rear panel USB-B port lets you connect your home PC to play back digital audio files, including high resolution PCM and DSD tracks.
The SA8005 also features an accurate dual-system clock, a Toroidal transformer, a double-layered bottom plate for extra stability, fully discrete headphone amplifier, and a system remote, which controls the SA8005 and the matching PM8005 amplifier.
