Advanced Music Machine Combines Digital/Analog Converter with CD Drive for Performance Delivering the Emotion and Intimacy of Live Events
Lindemann of Germany has introduced the 825 High Definition Disc Player into the U.S. market.
The 825 High Definition Disc Player is an extremely versatile audiophile music machine that can be seen as a state-of-the-art digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with an added CD drive and a wide array of digital interface options. The Player supports CD, CD-R, CD-RW and Hybrid-SACD formats using a DVD laser system with a coated glass lens that is optimized for CDs and has a long, successful track record.
The 825 is notable for highly accurate tracking, excellent data quality, a central master clock that synchronously times all circuits, extensive signal conditioning to ensure the standardization of digital data, and exceptional build quality with top-level components like special thin-film resistors and ultrafast PPS film capacitors. In addition, a fast, fully balanced, output stage demonstrates virtually perfect time domain behavior and delivers outstanding musical performance.
The advanced DAC within the 825 is electrically isolated to form what is essentially a source component within a source component. The DAC has its own power supply with its own mains transformer windings. To maximize resolution, a Blackfin DSP processes digital signals using a proprietary Lindemann code.
The 825 is also the world's first CD player to possess a high-speed Class 2 USB interface that accepts high-quality music data up to 24-bit and 192 kHz. The Player handles all customary data formats, and data below 24/96 is processed to remove jitter before being submitted to a sample rate converter usually found only in the studio-level equipment.
The system accommodates upstream mono mode DACs, and features a new, better sounding minimum phase filter that replaces unwanted time domain artifacts, including those in recordings, with a new time-coherent impulse response.
The 825 is equipped with a wide array of connection options, including three S/PDIF digital inputs, one pair each of RCA and XLR analog outputs, two S/PDIF digital outputs, a signal loop function, and a high-speed USB audio interface that complies with the Audio Class 2 standard. It comes with a full-feature remote control, and a menu that can be modified to suit each application.
The 825 High Definition Disc Player is available now from Aaudio Imports at a suggested price of $12,500 (U.S. MSRP).
